This thesis deals with the theme of substitute family care, which is currently topical. The aim of my thesis is to look and bring into the problems of substitute family care in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part is focused on the forms of substitute family care and their characteristics. There is described a mediation of adoption and foster care, where inherently belongs a motivation of applicants. An integral part of substitute family care is also the issue of adoption child from different ethnicity and influence of biological family on upbringing by his substitute parents. There are also explained ethical principles which play an important role in solution of ethical problems and dilemmas in substitute family care.

This Diploma Thesis with a title "Future parents' way to foster care with a focus on adoption" has got two main parts. The theoretical part presents a basic approach on the issue of substitute care - family one as well as institutional one. It emphasizes its risks and also its advantages. One of the chapters describes the complete process of adoption, all steps, which applicants must get through and it emphasizes pitfalls of each step. The practical part is based on the theoretical part and it is in a form of an experimental probe. In the practical part there are presented the results of data analysis, which goes from semi-structured interviews with adoption applicants. The Thesis presents a complete overview of the issue of adoption and it also introduces not much discussed topic of direct adoption in the Czech Republic. My work analyses the legislation changes in the area of social and legal protection of children in the Czech Republic that have been introduced over the last two years. This work focuses on impacts of these changes in the practice of transferring children to substitute care as well as ethical aspects directly connected with this process. Laws impacting the social and legal protection of children are being compared in order to understand the legal rights of children. The consequences of the legislative changes have a direct effect on the processes of handing children to substitute care. The work is not only concerned with the practical impacts, but also with the ethical side of the problem which was identified as the most important in my thesis. Case reports from my own practice provide a complementary evidence to the reader to better understand the process of placement of children into substitute care both at professional and ethical levels.

The main aim of my Master's thesis, is to analyze the experience with foster care on a temporary basis acquired by semi - structured interviews with social workers of social and legal protection of children in northern Bohemia. Furthermore, mapping what positive and difficulties they find of foster care on a temporary basis social workers social and legal protection of children. This Master's thesis gets the reader introduced the theory of attachment, the historical development of family substitute care, the actual system of family substitute care in the Czech Republic, the institute of foster care on a temporary basis, amendment to the Law on social and legal protection of children, acceptance and adaptation of a child in the alternative family environment, roles and competences of a social worker of social and legal protection of children in realization of foster care for a temporary basis. As a method for this thesis was used a qualitative one, the data were obtained by semi - structured interview. At the end of the thesis, the results of the survey are evaluated and presented.
