The aim of the assignment was to rehabilitate the area of the Brno embankment of the river Svitava and the nearby surroundings of the river. This is the modification of the river's seashore, the modification of public spaces and the completion of individual objects. The solved territory is defined in the east and north of Cejl streets, on the east of the Svitava river and on the south by Tkalcovska street. The principles of the proposal are based on the necessary changes to the territory. The biggest problem of the area is the area backups for the hypermarket parking lot and the urbanistically incoherent structure of the courtyards and the poorly functioning waterfront. The proposal focuses on making the river accessible and bringing water closer to people. On the waterfront the bicycle path is used not only by cyclists. The former hypermarket is converted into a shopping mall and the ground floor of the seafront is made up of shops, services, cafes and restaurants. For humans, a river was available that could touch water. For relaxation and recreation, the terraces are provided. Better permeability also offers the river itself. By modifying the footbridge and delivering a new footbridge in the middle part, pedicists and cyclists can better cross the river. The park and the reclamation of planted trees have been modified. The Svitavy Drive in the section of the park was also accessible by foot. The siding was preserved to a certain extent in order to be able to prepare a wagon with a café or other possibilities of the Svitava festival under the steam. The construction of new houses increases the attractiveness of the area itself and offers both flats overlooking the river with the dominant of the church as well as services in the workshops of the individual houses. The Master‘s thesis deals with the assessment of the current state of flood protection in the rivers and floodplains of Svitava (km 0.000 - 2,050) and Svratka (km 26,370 - 33,963) in Brno. Using a combined 1D and 2D numerical model of water flow, hydraulic calculations of the peak flows of Q5, Q20 and Q100 were performed. For calculation, HEC-RAS 5.0.6 was used. The outputs were processed in the form of flood hazard maps and drawing documentation.

There is an opportunity for a new approach to the city adjacent districts by a combination of a reconversion and a modification of the former industrial estate of the Koffiller´s factory with a revitalization of the river Svitava and its feeding canal from an unused island. An introduction of the human spirit into an industrial environment using urban elements, green, public amenities and habitation brings about a better lifestyle.

The goal of this diploma thesis was area between the city parts Malomerice and Obrany. After the construction of mill drive, an artificial island was created there. Industrial site with textile factories was established in 1912, however it does not fulfil its original purpose anymore and it is fairly damaged today. My intention was to clear the island and bring back its original form - park, unique place in nature where people acknowledge proximity of the river and cultural activities as well. I designed textile museum in the former factory building. It is accompanied by pavilion of Contemporary textile and fashion and also engineering exhibition. One of the components is an artificial canal for canoeists.

The thesis main objective is to find the potential and capacity of the Svitava raceway concerning redevelopment and creation of new public areas, especially in the form of embankments designated for pedestrians. The design also focuses on redevelopment and finding new suitable functional utilization, in particular of the industrial buildings and premises of the former plant Mosilana. The theoretical part of the diploma thesis describes the urban development of the city, its history and the development of Brno region as well as rivers in its district. The name of the project prompts the problems of legacy of industrial premises. The goal of my work was to consider, how to use the buildings in the premises in Obřany, Brno. The aim was on the most important object – former building of Essler’s spinning factory, which was supposed to be turned into school of architecture for one hundred students in two school years. The work aims on connection of the area with the city. It solves objects themselves, tries to find accurate usage of them, for example commersial premises, student housing and so on. All this is united with the concept of „union“, which goes throught the whole area and tries to create simple a most of all plesant public places. The school – building of former spinning factory – disclose it’s strenght in it‘s open space, when the whole structure of the building is visible. I came from this conviction into my project, that agreed with my image of open shool. I wanted to design a school, where students could create together, where they would have review of the whole space, about other students. Tuitions would become public matter, where everybody could join.

The thesis deals with issues of waterfronts along the Svitava in Brno. The project is based on previous two semesters, when a thorough analysis of the waterfront area was elaborated in cooperation with Bc. Linda Pisova and Bc. Zdenka Sedlakova. The analysis deals with issues of brownfields that occupy an extensive area along the river as well. The aim of this work is waterfront revitalization and reinterpretation and creating designs to bring new activities to particular areas that will be adequate to distinctive atmosphere of the sites. Linking the broken relations and propose new ideas as means of recovery or restitution of the city's lost relationship to the river.

The location is situated in Brno, in the suburbs of Brno – centre. The area is located to Zderadova street from the north, Masná street from the west and Hladikova street from the south part of the east bank of the river Svitava. The building takes seven floors above the ground (shops and services, administration, housing) and two underground floors (underground garages). The design solution is based on the blending of large quantities of various functions on a relatively small built-up area, which means a number of jobs and reducing distances to work. Therefore, there is a compact object, which is divided by two right - angled lines forming as a cross, the four smaller masses that are connected at the level of the 1 NP and 2 NP. The object is divided by lines that follows the important walkways and improve the throughput of the territory. Furthermore, the individual objects are perforated by a square cross - section with dimensions of about 6.5 x 6.5 x X m, both of them are in the horizontal direction and are always within the depth of the block. They are formed as spaces for indoor patios. They can be formed in the vertical direction - in this case, perforations are ended at the different floors according to the needs, smaller atriums arise. The Individual blocks are connected in 4 NP by footbridges. There is a roof terrace in the central part of 5 NP due to perforation of the object that creates a semi-public space functioned to relaxation and recreation.

The thesis is conceived as a conceptual urban design of an area in the wider part of Brno city centre, in the district Brno-Zábrdovice. It works with the new principles of the compact city. It is focused primarily on the resurgence of streets, public spaces, waterfront of Svitava river, construction of areas for housing in the form of block of houses and revitalization of Cejl street. Project is designed according to contemporary urban design principles and eliminates the degree of flooding by automobile traffic in Brno city centre.
