Para Nuñez, (2007) o storytelling é atualmente a principal ferramenta de comunicação, a única capaz de atrair nossa atenção em meio a tantas mensagens dispersas. A narrativa também pode aparecer na web como uma forma de seduzir e fidelizar um público. Blogs diários são como um storytelling, em que "blogueiros" relatam suas experiências de vida. Blogs informativos também recorrem à narrativa, que aparece junto a notícias como um discurso atraente. E o que dizer quando a narrativa aparece em um blog de um programa de TV? Seria uma espécie de propaganda? Este trabalho de pesquisa consiste em um estudo de caso sobre o blog Me leva Brasil, de Maurício Kubrusly. Através da observação e interpretação do corpus, pretende-se demonstrar como a narrativa do blog Me leva Brasil configuram um tipo de storytelling que promove na Internet produtos e conteúdos midiáticos da TV, bem como a participação do telespectador. Nesse percurso, são utilizados estudos sobre storytelling e blogs, bem como sobre o Advertainment / Abstract: According to Salmon (2007,2008) storytelling is a kind of speech that uses narrative to emotionally persuade and engage people in politics, business and advertising and marketing. For Nuñez, (2007) storytelling is currently the most important communication tool, and the only able to grab our attention among so many scattered messages. Narrative may also appear on the web as a way to lure and retain an audience. Daily blogs are like storytelling, in which bloggers describe life experiences. Informative blogs also make use of narrative, which appears along with news as an appealing speech. And what about when narrative appears in a TV show blog? Would it be a kind of advertisement? This research consists of a case study of the blog Me leva Brasil, by Maurício Kubrusly. Improving image quality in multi-channel printing - multilevel halftoning, color separation and graininess characterization

Color printing is traditionally achieved by separating an input image into four channels (CMYK) and binarizing them using halftoning algorithms, in order to designate the locations of ink droplet placement. Multi-channel printing means a reproduction that employs additional inks other than these four in order to augment the color gamut (scope of reproducible colors) and reduce undesirable ink droplet visibility, so-called graininess. One aim of this dissertation has been to characterize a print setup in which both the primary inks CMYK and their light versions are used. The presented approach groups the inks, forming subsets, each representing a channel that is reproduced with multiple inks. To halftone the separated channels in the present methodology, a specific multilevel halftoning algorithm is employed, halftoning each channel to multiple levels. This algorithm performs the binarization from the ink subsets to each separate colorant. Consequently, the print characterization complexity remains unaltered when employing the light inks, avoiding the normal increase in computational complexity, the one-to-many mapping problem and the increase in the number of training samples. The results show that the reproduction is visually improved in terms of graininess and detail enhancement. The secondary color inks RGB are added in multi-channel printing to increase the color gamut. Utilizing them, however, potentially increases the perceived graininess. Moreover, employing the primary, secondary and light inks means a color separation from a three-channel CIELAB space into a multi-channel colorant space, resulting in colorimetric redundancy in which multiple ink combinations can reproduce the same target color. To address this, a proposed cost function is incorporated in the color separation approach, weighting selected factors that influence the reproduced image quality, i.e. graininess and color accuracy, in order to select the optimal ink combination. The perceived graininess is modeled by employing S-CIELAB, a spatial low-pass filtering mimicking the human visual system. By applying the filtering to a large dataset, a generalized prediction that quantifies the perceived graininess is carried out and incorporated as a criterion in the color separation. Consequently, the presented research increases the understanding of color reproduction and image quality in multi-channel printing, provides concrete solutions to challenges in the practical implementation, and rises the possibilities to fully utilize the potential in multi-channel printing for superior image quality.

The Impact of "Bad Media Attention" on Stock Price : An Exploratory Study regarding The Impact of "Bad Media Attention" on Stock Price on The OMX Stockholm 30 Stock Exchange

Technology has evolved the last 20 years, making both the stock market and media operate in real time. The advancement of technology has increased trading activity and the number of investors who enter the stock market. Alongside, media has expanded itself into the internet and can, due to the advancement, provide information faster and in higher volumes through their channels. Being that, a limited number of follow-ups have been made regarding the impact of media on stock price and no studies have been made to investigate how stock price correlates with negative media. This generated the aim of this study to investigate and analyze the impact of “Bad Media Attention” on stock price. The thesis was conducted as an exploratory research study that collected secondary data from Avanza. Furthermore, the methodology in this study was structured and performed to best answer the research question (RQ1): Does “Bad Media Attention” have an impact on stock price?” The results showed that the majority of news defined as ”Bad Media Attention” had no statistically significant impact on stock price. Also, the study found no consistent statistically significant correlation between “Bad Media Attention” and stock price. However, the small number of significant variables tends to have a negative correlation between “Bad Media Attention” and stock price. Therefore, this research contributed to the stock market field in a number of ways. First, by showing a majority of news events, defined as “Bad Media Attention”, had no statistically significant impact on stock price for large cap companies on the OMX Stockholm 30 Stock Exchange. Second, the results and analysis may help to better grasp the impact of “Bad Media Attention”. Third, this study provided more insight in the research area and raised awareness of this particular phenomenon, and will for this reason be a valuable discovery for future research.

Nationality-Based Representation of Migrants in the Italian Media : The Case of Rainews

This degree project aims to examine how the representation of migrants in Italian media differs according to their nationality. The new migration from Ukraine raised the problem of their different representations; a difference that existed before but now the media classification of migrants in first- and second-class is more evident and frequent. I engaged in a comparative content analysis of Italy’s state online journal that examines both the representation of migrants from Sub-Saharan and Northern Africa and Southern Asia arriving through the Mediterranean routes and that of Ukrainian migrants. Through the notions of representation of otherness (the other as a foreigner to strengthen our identity) and of voice as a process (claiming the importance for the disadvantaged to express their needs), the representation of the two groups will be analysed. Critically, this analysis will find that according to the media perception, migrants arriving through the Mediterranean routes are viewed as outcasts and their voice is also underrepresented compared to migrants from Ukraine.

U.S. Newspapers And The Adoption Of Technological Innovations

In order to survive in a hyper-competitive media marketplace, managers must constantly evaluate new technologies and their potential impact on the industry. Using theories on innovation management in organization, this study examined the processes used by managers at daily newspaper in the U.S. during the time period of 1992-2005 to plan for publishing content online. Fourteen subjects, all of whom held management positions during this time, were interviewed at length about their experiences. Their responses reveal that the processes were generally haphazard. This was a result of several factors, some of which were external to the newspaper industry, and others which were cultural, internal forces. Despite a general level of disorganization in the processes, the responses do identify some practices that can be used as blueprints for media organizations that wish to rethink their approach to potentially disruptive technologies.
