Music Festivals: A Secondary Market Analysis

Perez, Julian 01 January 2016 (has links)
While the majority of the literature on secondary markets for tickets in the entertainment industry focuses on concerts and sporting events, this study aims to shed light specifically on the music festival resale market. Music festivals have risen in prominence in recent years, particularly among millennials, during the time that the internet has dramatically facilitated the resale of tickets through online marketplaces. With many of the top festivals selling out rapidly, a great deal of music fans turn to secondary markets for tickets. However, very little is known about the behavior of secondary markets for music festivals due to information not being readily available to the public. This study uses demand-side data including transaction prices and quantities acquired from one of the largest online secondary ticket marketplaces to examine market behavior. My findings show that on average, prices decline for music festivals as they approach, but that there are years for certain festivals where this isn’t the case. Other results show that markets for festivals with multiple weekends operate differently and that special artist performances such as band reunions can have a significant positive effect on consumer demand. Lastly, the majority of all ticket sales are found to take place in the final 30 days before music festivals transpire.

Boka biljetter online : Hur ska biljettbokningssystem designas för att tillfredställa kunden? / Booking tickets online : How should ticket booking systems be designed to satisfy the customer?

Freedman, Simon January 2014 (has links)
In today's society we are used to regularly visit the sport arena to cheer for our favorite team, we go to the cinema to enjoy a good movie or maybe to the theatre to experience a grand performance. It has become far more common in the last years to buy tickets to these kinds of events online. To make sure that the customer will keep on buying their tickets from the online booking companies the booking experience itself has to be hassle-free and easy to understand. The customer will most likely, if possible, avoid the website if the booking itself is experienced as having problems and insecurities.   The purpose of this study is to determine some of the most fundamental designs and functions of online booking websites today as perceived by the general public. This study will also examine some of the existing online booking websites. The empirical methods used in this study was of both quantitative and a qualitative nature to ensure that the data collected would be suited to secure a substantial analysis. The qualitative method consisted of an observation of the earlier mentioned online booking websites. These already existing functions and designs were then used to create a checklist that was used to see which websites had which designs. The quantitative method was an online survey created to collect both the public's most wanted features, their opinion of these and how an online booking could be optimized. This study presents the different functions and designs that the respondents prefers while making an online booking. It also shows the existing functions and designs amongst booking sites today. These sites are then also evaluated according to the respondents answers to see which online booking site that is preferred. The results in this study shows that the costumers want the booking system to show the chosen event to be visible during the course of the booking, they want to be able chose their exact seats and they want to the booking to be made in as few pages and klick's as possible.

The research objects are Tickets Group Buying Websites, to explore the correlation between Perceived Risk and Purchase Intention, including website trust and perception of price. The main purpose is to investigate consumers' tickets group buying behavior, and to understand the consumers' perceived risk interactions with perceived price, trust in tickets group buying, and the impact of people¡¦s purchase intention. This research takes the questionnaire survey; we collect total 301 available samples. Use percentage, average, correlation analysis and regression analysis. The study result indicated that main consumer in ticket group buying are women; the major consumer age groups is 19-29 years old, their income per month is bellow fifty thousand; and most of consumer who lives in northern area in Taiwan. The main reasons that people who willing to use ticket group buying are cheapest price and easy to buy. The key reasons people who do not buy ticket group buying are using time limit and lower service quality. In this research, we found that when consumer has higher website trust, the perceived risk will be weaken; besides the purchase intention will be strengthen. The trust has significant effects on consumer¡¦s purchase decision in ticket group buying. This study also founds that consumer have lower perceived price having higher perceived risk and having lower purchase intention.

Aplikace pro rezervaci vstupenek v IMS / Application for the reservation of tickets in the IMS

Otoupalík, Pavel January 2010 (has links)
This master’s thesis deals description of the IMS (Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem) and shows the possibility for design applications that using services this system. The theoretical part of the thesis is focused on a detailed description of the IMS architecture, its key components and the SIP protocol that is main signaling protocol in the IMS. The practical part of the work describes the design, implementation and test of the system for reservation of tickets to cinema in the IMS. The project was created as client-server application in the development studio SDS Ericsson 4.1 FD1 with built-in IMS simulator. The client application is designed for mobile devices with support of the J2ME platform. The server part of the system is realized as SIP Servlet with access to the MySQL database. In the database are saves records about registered users, offered tickets and successful reservation. For easy work over MySQL database of the system for reservation of tickets was created the application for its administration in the Java programming language (Java SE 6). With the assistance of this application, the operators of system can add and erase the records about films, time projection and disburse tickets on the basis of knowledge of reservation ID. In the end of the work is realized SIP signaling analysis of the client registration to IMS and communication between the client application and the SIP Servlet.

Gutzen, Lucas, Wolf-Waltz, Björn, Björkman, Greta, Abramsson, Elias, Sahlström, Anton, Widigssoon, Eric, Lundin, Johanna, Dahlander, Alex, Albrekt, David January 2022 (has links)
Students wishing to attend student events, as well as the event organisers, currentlyface several inconveniences at the sign-up occasion, due to prevailing solutions’ lack ofdeep consideration for efficiency. This report investigates how a web-based sign-up appli-cation for student events can be implemented to handle high server traffic, by developingand testing a solution that allows for a quick sign-up process, payment directly at the sign-up occasion and the gathering of relevant attendee information.By considering code optimization strategies and the change of database from SQLite toMongoDB, based on the prevailing literature on the topic, a test script together with hightraffic testing was utilised to measure the relative performance of each of these implemen-tations, relative to the initial web-application. Results show that all four aspects tested weresignificant in terms of improving the handling of high traffic. Based on this, the conclusiondrawn was that all four aspects: time optimization, space optimization, minification, and adocument-based database, should be considered when improving a web-application thatallows for handling of high traffic. This finding confirms the prevailing literature on thetopic, however, the implementation phase also raised suggestions for future and improvedresearch on the topic.
