Serialita v české a slovenské komiksové naraci. Žánry - modely - světy / Seriality in Czech and Slovak Comics Narration. Genres -Models - WorldsKořínek, Pavel January 2015 (has links)
The PhD thesis Seriality in Czech and Slovak Comics Narration. Genres - Models - Worlds intends to deepen our understanding of the historically most prevalent serial form (as in "form of organization") of comics' texts, which phenomenon is here described and further studied building upon the material base of the Czechoslovak comics of the 20th century. At the same time, this seriality is considered here as both the topic of research and its main analytical tool, since the thesis aims to advance our knowledge of history of local comics, as well as to propose seriality-related theoretical tools and concepts. On the historical and interpretative level, the Czechoslovak tradition of comics is conceptualized through its dominant publication-presentation types (comics being presented in the periodicals context) of episodic segments with their strictly limited space/page allowance, with focus on formats and models of periodicity, as well as on genre and composition related topics. Further chapters are dedicated to specific sub-categories of comics narratives (either format-based - comic strip, or genre-oriented - funny animal comics). These not only give an appropriate historical overview of the individual topics, but also serve as the prerequisites for consideration of general, arguably even...

Mediální proměny Pepiny Rejholcové / Media transformations of Pepina RejholsovaŠkopková, Andrea January 2017 (has links)
The work reflects one of the most popular fictional character of the first half of the 1930s, Pepina Rejholcová. Pepina Rejholcová, whose author Frantisek Voborsky, an important personality of Czech comics, has appeared in the Czech press at the turn of the 1920s and 1930s - first as a side character of humorous drawings or illustrations for popular song lyrics. Soon after, she reappeared on the silver screen, on pages of children's books, or in children's rooms in the form of toys and sweets. The transformations of the originally illustrated archetype caused by the switch among the various media are the center of interest for this work. In this context, the aspects of intermediality and transmediality are examined, both in special and general terms. It is mainly the extent to which the originally cartoon character changes, and whether the content of the message, the narrative patterns and the concept of humor is changing as well. In broader context, the work is a contribution to the theme of media and institutional integration. The work is divided into five parts and a conclusion. The first part outlines the theoretical viewpoints, the second part is devoted to Pepina Rejholcova's character, the third part reflects media representations, the fourth discusses essential characteristics of typical...

Biografické snímky jako konstrukce reality / Biographies as a construction of realityMartinů, Jakub January 2021 (has links)
The diploma thesis is focused on the transmediality and adaptation phenomena and on the process of adaptation translation into the performative medium, a movie. The phenomena are grounded in the academical background, and their origin and historical development of their studies are contained in the theoretical part of the thesis. Furthermore, the different approaches to evaluation of the final product of the adaptation process are analyzed and it is explained that the evaluation of the adaptation is not bound by the fidelity criteria, but rather the overall transformation of the original message into the new media, in this case a movie. Due to these findings, the method of qualitative comparative analysis was used for the analytical part of the thesis. The qualitative research was focused mainly on the adaptation shifts as defined by Katerina Perdikaki, modulation, modification, mutation. Four biographical books of well- known personalities and their subsequent movie adaptations were analyzed. From these stories, four key moments were chosen to be used for the qualitative comparative analysis in order to research the adaptation shifts in the individual stories and their impact on the process of the creation of the adaptation and the final performative piece. The sample of the books was carefully...

Výtvarno jako konstitutivní prvek fikčních světů / Art as an constitutive element of fictional worldsRuml, Lukáš January 2022 (has links)
The topic of this thesis is visual art as a constitutive element of fictional worlds. The methodological basis is comparative semiotics, or more precisely intermediality research. The aim is to capture some of the possible realisations of intermedial relationships between literature and visual art. The constituent case studies are focused on the ekphrasis represented in the novel Witch Hammer by Václav Kaplický, on the transmediality as a transfer of aesthetics of one medium into another on the example of Josef Čapek's Three Proses which are traditionally perceived as cubist, and on the illustrative relationship between text and picture in František Hrubín's lyrical poems The Night of Job. The first study concerning the ekphrastic relationship confirms the ability of visual art to enrich the possibilities of literary expression thematically but also semantically through introspection into the inner lives of the characters which contributed to the overall interpretation of the work. The second study focused on the transmedia transfer in Čapek's proses does not have such an unequivocal conclusion. Given the complexity of each reader's receptive process, it is difficult to attribute the status of a literary pandanus of Cubism to the Three Proses, even with an awareness of its historical context. By...

Proměna distribuce audiovizuálních obsahů v kontextu transmediality / Transformation of distribution of audiovisual content in transmedia contextJakubisko, Jorik January 2016 (has links)
We are currently witnessing the transformation of media landscape since transmedia contents affect the strategy of distributors, producers, and television broadcasters. This new phenomenon has multidisciplinary overlap, so we encounter with different interpretations and terminology in this discourse. The master thesis Transformation of distribution of audiovisual content in transmedia context has two main objectives. Its primary aim is to unify the basic terminology for media, audiovisual, and distribution discourse based on academic literature. The secondary aim is to explore the strategies of 3 largest domestic terrestrial TV broadcasters through formal analysis. The practical part is divided in 2 sections. The first one is focused on how TV stations have implemented transmedia extensions in the context of audience immersion and broadcasters branding in their distribution strategies. The second examines whether there is true transmedia content for original shows and storyworlds in their production. It is just a matter of time before these changes in distribution strategies will affect TV broadcasters. Transmedia extentions are associated with a creative process since ancient times but we could not realize their existence. Keywords transmedia, crossmedia, transmedia storytelling, convergence,...

Výstavba fikčního světa fantasy ságy Píseň ledu a ohně / The construction of fictional world of fantasy saga A Song of Ice and FireKollárová, Veronika January 2018 (has links)
This diploma thesis deals with the fantasy saga A Song of Ice and Fire written by American author G. R. R. Martin and the analysis of its fictional world. It explores saga's genre classification and focuses on elements that depart from its genre and which enrich it. Through the narratological analysis of the work, it focuses on the main principles of the construction of the fictional world and its specific characteristics. The basic theoretical framework for the analysis of the saga consists of contemporary fictional worlds that are not called fictional in the sense that they would form a fictional narrative but create a new narrative universe. It is designed to help construct further sequels or narrative turns. The diploma thesis also refers to the phenomenon of transmediality, thanks to which the narrative universe continues to expand and the fictional world becomes more realistic.
