The work called Herman Joseph Tyl offers a total lack on the life of this important religious figure, the abbot of one of the oldest Norbertine monastery founded by Czech nobleman blessed Hroznata in Teplá, which experienced the suffering of two totalitarian regimes of the 20th century: Nazis in concentration camps and prisons in Communist labor and uranium camps, as well as various interventions in the persecution of his life in the form of withdrawal of government approval. The work is given to the period of his life, which has so far lacked the processing. This is particularly Tylova childhood, adolescence, studies and life after 1958, when he worked as a warehouseman at Cakovském collective farm and returned to the priesthood, which he re-intervention prevented Communist totalitarian power by removing state approval, to the end of his life again to priesthood returned and was even elected abbot of the monastery Tepla. The work also offers a historical and critical evaluation of the data known from the Tyl autobiography affecting in particular the period from his arrest by the Gestapo in 1942 until his release from prison and their communist completion in the light sources. The work deals with the postwar period of Monastery Teplá in the years 1945 - 1950. It records the renewal of the monastery after the war and transfer of German religious and priests. Special attention is focused on the problems with the establishment of communism in the year 1948 and impact of the communist upheaval upon the life in this monastery. It is based on the archival sources and on the witnesses testimonies. The first part introduces Premonstratensian friary in the world, the first friary information in the Czech Republic, the history and the importance of the friary. The second part deals with the Monastery Teplá itself, its founders, it represents the history and the importance of the monastery. The last part is the most comprehensive and key part of the whole work. It describes the life in the monastery at the end of the Second World War and the life of the prior H. J. Tyl.

Diplomová práce přináší příspěvek k problematice inspirace historické prózy devatenáctého století odbornou dějepisnou literaturou. Jejím úkolem je zhodnocení provázanosti Palackého husitské koncepce s vybranými dvěma povídkami Josefa Kajetána Tyla, jejichž děj je situován do první poloviny patnáctého století v Čechách. První část diplomové práce uvádí stručnou charakteristiku obou autorů a jejich tvorby s historickou tematikou. Následující teoretická kapitola je věnována pohledu na husitství v devatenáctém století. Druhá část práce je zaměřena prakticky, neboť vedle srovnání výkladu dějin oběma autory také obsahuje subjektivní interpretaci literárních kvalit postav a okolností, jež si Tyl domýšlí.
