O diagnóstico foi realizado por meio de questionários e entrevistas realizadas com representantes da prefeitura municipal e dos feirantes, catadores de lixo e moradores da cidade, bem como por visitas técnicas em vários pontos da cidade e na área da disposição final dos resíduos. De um modo geral, os questionários abrangeram pontos relacionados a coleta seletiva, limpeza, transporte, tratamento e disposição dos resíduos sólidos, cooperativa de catadores e educação ambiental. A quantificação e caracterização dos resíduos produzidos na cidade também foram realizadas. Os resultados obtidos demonstraram que aproximadamente 50% dos resíduos sólidos de Buerarema são orgânicos, seguidos de papéis, plásticos, metais e vidros. Com estes resultados recomenda-se a compostagem e a reciclagem como alternativa para o tratamento dos resíduos de Buerarema, bem como a implantação da coleta seletiva. As medidas propostas foram divididas em três etapas as quais deverão ser implantadas de forma gradual em cada setor da cidade e iniciadas por campanhas de educação ambiental visando instruir a população desde a geração a disposição final dos resíduos sólidos. Sugere-se neste estudo que a coleta seletiva e as outras fases do gerenciamento deverão ser iniciadas após o trabalho de instrução à população. Finalmente, recomenda-se estudos de viabilidade na área escolhida para a construção de um aterro sanitário e um convênio entre os municípios circunvizinhos. / The present work looked for to diagnose the administration of the urban solid residues of the city of Buerarema - Bahia and to propose measures for your improvement. The diagnosis was accomplished through questionnaires and interviews accomplished with representatives of the municipal city hall and of the merchants, garbagemen and residents of the city, as well as for technical visits in several points of the city and in the area of the final disposition of the residues. In a general way, the questionnaires embraced related points the selective collection, cleaning, transport, treatment and disposition of the solid residues, garbagemen cooperative and environmental education. The quantification and characterization of the residues produced in the city they were also accomplished. The obtained results demonstrate that approximately 50% of the solid residues of Buerarema are organic, followed by papers, plastics, metals and glasses. With these results it is recommended the composting and the recycling as alternative for the treatment of the residues of Buerarema, as well as the implantation of the selective collection. The proposed measures were divided in three stages which should be implanted in a gradual way in each section of the city and initiate for campaigns of environmental education seeking to instruct the population from the generation the final disposition of the solid residues. It is suggested in this study that the selective collection and the other phases of the administration should be initiate after the instruction work to the population. Finally, it is recommended viability studies in the chosen area for the construction of a sanitary embankment and an agreement among the adjacent municipal districts.

Um dos grandes problemas enfrentados pelo município de Caçapava é a destinação final dos resíduos sólidos urbanos e a falta de conscientização da população perante a reciclagem. O trabalho consiste na elaboração de proposta de gerenciamento de resíduos sólidos urbanos para o município de Caçapava. Pesquisas junto às autoridades, órgãos competentes e munícipes foram realizadas, aliadas a analise de legislação federal, estadual, como também ao plano diretor do município. Visitou-se a recicladora do município de Caçapava, como também o aterro sanitário da cidade vizinha de São Jose dos Campos. Verificou-se que a coleta seletiva na cidade de Caçapava é praticada em poucos bairros e grande parte dos resíduos sólidos é direcionada ao aterro sanitário de Tremembé, não existindo no município um planejamento para conscientizar e engajar a população perante os resíduos sólidos gerados. O município de Caçapava pode adotar medidas relativamente simples que podem trazer significativos resultados, aos resíduos sólidos gerados. / One of the biggest problems in the city of Caçapava is the final destination of the urban solid residues and the lack of populations awareness talking about recycling.This writing consists in the elaboration of a purpose about management of urban solid residues in the city of Caçapava. Researches among the autorities, correct organizations and population were made and also analysis of federal, state and city laws. Caçapavas reclying company was also visited as the city neighbors sanitarian place.It was checked that the seletive colection is made just in a few neighborhoods and the most part of solid residues is focused to the sanitarian place, not existing in the city a plan to aware and engage population about solid residues generated. Caçapava may adopt simple goals that may bring significative results to solid residues generated.
