Typy adverbií v jazyce barokních textů a jejich vývoj / Types of adverbs in the language of baroque texts and their development

KLIMEŠOVÁ, Markéta January 2018 (has links)
Adverbs constitute an important element in expressing circumstances. In our dissertation we try to present various types of adverbs in the language of texts which date back to 17th and 18th centuries (so-called Baroque period). The word-formation aspect of these adverbs and the development of their meaning are emphasized. Different semantic shifts of adverbs are observed as well as their usage with functions of different parts of speech (usually particles or conjunctions). The development of adverbs found in Baroque texts is compared both with older language period and with some results of their development in contemporary Czech.

Vzájemná komunikace studentů češtiny jako cizího jazyka při práci ve dvojicích / Mutual communication of students of Czech as a foreign language during their work in pairs

Rosenová, Anna January 2018 (has links)
The following MA thesis is concerned with the interaction among students of Czech as a foreign language in classes of low proficiency and working in pairs. It mainly concentrates on the process of overcoming obstacles that arise during communication. The objective of the thesis is to examine the students' choice of communication strategies and describe the process of negotiation of meaning. In order to achieve that, an analysis of transcribed recordings of interactions during a language lesson was made. During the lesson students had to complete two two-way tasks, which should offer as many opportunities to negotiate meaning as possible. Keywords: Czech as a foreign language, interaction, negotiation of meaning, communication strategies, pair work

Mýtus literárního / The myth of the literary

Matysová, Daniela January 2016 (has links)
This diploma thesis is concerned with possible connection between literary theory of Wolfgang Iser and analytic philosophy of language. First of all I introduce analytic linguistic turn in general but the main part of thesis is dedicated to two opposite conceptions of language and interpretaton within the latter period of analytical movement. I want to explore Michael Dummett's and Donald Davidson's dispute over the role of conventions and questions about their indispensability in linguistic communication.Whereas their own opinions converge in view of the fact that influence of society on human thought is radically irreducible, there is great difference between their beliefs in the necessity of conception of rules inherent in social linguistic practice. My aim is to vindicate Davidson's theory of interpretation against Dummett's objections and then continue to discussing Iser's own theory of reading. Particularly I try to demonstrate that Iser's concept of literariness is based on Dummett's philosophical assumptions. In closing the main interest will be to reconsider if Iser's explanation of difference between literature and ordinary speech or document stands up to Davidson's challenge of Iser's entire treatment of linguistic practice. And, namely, if Davidson' philosophy of language can provide an...

Pevnost Evropa? Zhodnocení nápadů pro budoucnost EU / Fortress Europe? Evaluation of Ideas for the Future of the EU

Putensen, Jan January 2019 (has links)
Bibliographic note Putensen, J., 2019. Fortress Europe? Evaluation of Ideas for the Future of the EU. Master's thesis. Charles University, Prague. Abstract This thesis explores the use of the symbolic term Fortress Europe by political parties and move- ments in Austria, Germany, and Italy who are in favor of establishing a Fortress Europe and their ideas for what a Fortress Europe should look like. While the use of the term by left-wing critics of European immigration policies has been well covered in the literature, no author has yet analyzed the use of the term by political parties and movements that have started to demand a Fortress Europe since 2015. Based on an analysis of the appearance of the term Fortress Eu- rope in European media coverage conducted via the Factiva database, three countries with a relatively high use of the term in their media were selected for in-depth case studies. In partic- ular, the ideas of the following three extreme right groups were analyzed and compared: the Identitarian Movement Austria (IBÖ), the National Democratic Party of Germany (NPD), and Fortezza Europa (literal translation from Italian: Fortress Europe). It was found that their vi- sions of a Fortress Europe are very similar and aim to prevent any type of foreign immigration on a large scale in order to preserve...

Chápání významu somatismů v idiomech u japonských a českých mluvčích / Speakers' understanding of the meaning of names of body parts in Czech and Japanese idioms

Velká, Tereza January 2020 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is comparison of speakers' understanding of meaning of names of body parts head, eye, ear, nose, mouth and heart in Czech and Japanese language. To achieve this goal a list of idioms consisting of mentioned body parts in both languages is created. Speakers sort the idioms into arbitrary categories based on their understaing of meaning of name of body part. Resulting data is processed by multidimensional scaling and evaluated afterwards. The first bigger chapter is dedicated to introduction of idiomatics and phraseology in Europe and Japan in order to compare understanding of idioms and their classification. The second bigger chapter introduces a base for approaches to idioms, following by focus on somatic idioms. Two different approaches are introduced. The method of introspection is represented by a theory of coneptual profiles by I. Vaňková and by an idealized cognitive model of act by Arizono T. The corpus approach is represented by F. Čermák, Hashimoto Ch. et al. and by Lin W. The introduction of practical part follows. The first part is dedicated to the method of multidimensional scaling. After that the survey realization and its evaluation is described. The overall evaluation of results in terms of the aim of this thesis is placed in conclusion. Keywords: Japanese...

Význam a rozumění v kontextu myšlení Jacquesa Derridy a Hans-Georga Gadamera / Meaning and Understanding in the Context of Thought of Jacques Derrida and Hans-Georg Gadamer

Voborský, Lukáš January 2013 (has links)
Meaning and Understanding in the Context of Thought of Jacques Derrida and Hans-Georg Gadamer The focus of the present study is mainly on the discussion of the process of understanding and emergence of meaning. Using the example of Gadamer's hermeneutics it becomes clear what are the limits of positive attempt to express conditions of understanding within the context of the philosophy of finitude. In spite of its undeniable benefits, hermeneutic understanding shows itself to be vulnerable towards ideology and it could be seen as suspected of hidden normativity thanks to its emphasis on agreement and coherency. Derrida's deconstruction on the other hand shows the dynamics of emergence of meaning in language, it emphasizes plurality and ambiguity in contrast towards totalizing unicity and agreement; however, due to this approach, it is unable to offer anything close to what we call the truth. In a parallel line of interpretation, philosophical- antropological approach of Ernst Cassirer standing in comparison with Heidegger's existential analytics of Dasein shows that already at the fundamental level in the process of establishment of terms and concepts and earlier our understanding is already determined to a certain extent. Discussion between Gadamer and Derrida shows a necessity of certain arbitrary...

Formy oslovování v TV / Forms of Addressing in Czech TV shows

Škodová, Kateřina January 2014 (has links)
Résumé The thesis deals with addressing in Czech TV programmes such as talk-shows. There are 54 programmes broadcasted in 2012 and 2013 that were analysed. Firstly, the term "addressing" is defined as well as its functions. Secondly, the thesis is focused on various kinds of addressing (direct and indirect addressing in particular), the relationship to vertical social distance and the frequency of honorifics. According to the analysis of selected TV programmes (the programmes are characterized, the results of the analyses are summarized in tables in the Summarizing protocols), it is described how the incidence of individual types of addressing is related to the type of the programme (talk-shows compared to political debates or conventional interviews etc.). The selected way of addressing largely defines the nature of communication used in the programme. In certain programmes the way of addressing is strictly formal (OVM), in other programmes the way of addressing is being "negotiated". The television is an influential media and its communication conventions are transferred to interpersonal communication - especially the growth of informal addressing can be observed regardless of the fact if it is a genuinely informal situation or a communication strategy that is aimed at having a pleasant conversation. Key...
