Pretende-se, neste trabalho, analisar a presença dos ideais do movimento Claridade (valorização da terra natal, bem como da língua e da cultura cabo-verdiana) na obra em questão, considerando-se o contexto histórico e social do arquipélago quando da escrita do romance. Uma vez que Lopes considerava-se um observador atento da realidade circundante, busca-se examinar como o dilema partir-ficar cabo-verdiano, representado pela personagem principal Mané Quim, é abordado sob a ótica da geração de Claridade. Este fazer literário, portador de um novo padrão estético e ideológico, direciona-se ao contexto das ilhas não se omitindo acerca de seus problemas econômicos, sociais e políticos, mas assumindo uma postura profundamente telúrica sobre elas, com o objetivo de restaurar a esperança de seu povo e de firmar uma nova identidade nacional. / Manuel Lopes (1907-2005), one of the founders of the Claridade magazine, a periodical fruit of the intellectual movement of the same name that aimed to enhance the Capeverdian identity, wrote Chuva Braba, a novel published in 1956 and which expresses the bipartite sentiment of Capeverdian man, that is, the telluric attachment to his land marked by the drought and the necessity to seek better living conditions outside the archipelago. It is intended, in this work, to analyze the presence of the ideals of the Claridade movement (valorization of the native land, as well as the Capeverdian language and culture) in the work in question, considering the archipelago's historical and social context when writing the novel. Since Lopes considered himself as an attentive observer of the surrounding reality, it seeks to examine how the Capeverdian leave-stay dilemma, represented by the main character Mané Quim, is treated from the point of view of the generation of Claridade. This literary achievement, bearer of a new esthetic and ideological pattern, is directed to the context of the islands, not omitting about the economic, social and political problems, but assuming a position profoundly telluric about them, with the aim of restoring hope of its people and to establish a new national identity

Tema explorado desde os “claridosos”, nesta narrativa possui um significado diferente da tradição literária cabo-verdiana. A insularidade não é vista pelo viés geográfico e sim pelos sentimentos das personagens Filipa e Louca. Personagens que foram isoladas na comunidade serranense por apresentarem o diferente e o novo. A trajetória de Filipa reproduz esse isolamento através da frieza e solidão de seu comportamento. A Louca tem a insularidade imposta a ela pela comunidade como uma tentativa de silenciar o seu discurso. / This thesis examines the theme of insularity in the novel A Louca de Serrano, byDina Salústio. The theme has been explored since the “claridosos” and in this narrativetakes a significance different from that of the Caboverdian literary tradition. Insularity hereis not seen from the geographical point-of-view but from the feelings of the maincharacters, Filipa and Louca (the crazy one). These characters have been isolated withinthe Serranean community for bringing in the different and the new. The trajectory of Filipareproduces this isolation through the coldness and solitude of her behavior. Louca has theinsularity imposed on her as an attempt at silencing her discourse.

Nessa dissertação, o objetivo principal é a análise da checagem de foco da categoria sujeito no cabo-verdiano, variedade de São Nicolau, região de Barlavento. No tocante à introdução dos aspectos sociolinguísticos do cabo-verdiano de São Nicolau, o trabalho corrobora que a morfossintaxe nominal e verbal da língua atesta marcas de flexão, como por exemplo, o gênero, o número e marca de flexão verbal. O resultado do estudo, a partir do alargamento do corpus, submetido à ferramenta Praat, ratifica a análise realizada por Lopes & Zanoli (2012): o foco da categoria sujeito nessa variedade de Barlavento só pode ser realizado por meio de estruturas clivadas. No entanto, a análise amplia o escopo do estudo anterior: aponta três tipos de clivadas que marcam a tipologia do foco em São Nicolau e identifica, por meio da análise entoacional, a predominância de um acento bitonal específico do foco na língua: L+H*. / In this dissertation, the main goal is the analysis of the checks \'focus\' category \'subject\' in Cape Verde, variety of St. Nicholas, the Windward area. Regarding the introduction of the sociolinguistic aspects of Cape Verde of St. Nicholas, the work confirms that the nominal and verbal morphosyntax of the language attests brands flexion, for example, the \'gender\', the \'number\' and verbal inflection. The result of the study, from the extension of the corpora underwent Praat tool, confirms the analysis by Lopes & Zanoli (2012): the focus of the category \'subject\' in this variety Windward can only be accomplished through cleaved structures. However, the analysis expands the scope of the previous study: Three types of cleaved marking the typology of \'focus\' on St. Nicholas and identifies, by means of analysis intonation, the predominance of a bitonal accent specific focus on language: L + H *.
