A study on the Hi-Tech engineers¡¦ Money Ethic, Work Preference¡BWorkaholism¡BPerfectionism and Professional CommitmentTseng, Chin-Ling 15 August 2002 (has links)
It is a common phenomenon that experiences and educational background will take into account first. When high technology industrial corporations select engineers, they apply mental test or interview them in order to realize their personal characters which make clear and bright whether personal characters would collocate to work or not. In all, they want to make sure to choose the appropriate engineers.
The paper attempts to study through different points of view to analyze the working attitudes and manners of engineers. In order to discover some useful messages and to help high technology industry, the study plans recruits and retaining strategy which can consolidate the manpower and core essence of this field.
In this study, there are 323 engineers selected from 17 high technology corporations ( 11 of them are integrated circuit industry, 2 of them are electro- optical industry, 3 of them are computer and peripherals industry, 1 of them is communication industry ) for an empirical study. Their background information were collected to explore how the 4 variables (money ethic¡Bwork preference¡Bworkaholism and perfectionism) effect professional commitment . Thus, we hope the study can allow us to get the better knowledge of professional commitment of engineers.
The following 4 main points were found in this study ¡G
1. Money ethic would influence on some
professional commitment of engineers. While
work preference¡Bworkaholism and perfectionism
are considerable, the influence of money ethic
would decrease.
2.The different motive levels in cognition and
attitude would influence on achievements and
learning manners of engineers. Thus, the
diverse demand to intrinsic-extrinsic motive
would effect the professional commitment of
engineers. So if the engineers ask for higher
demand of intrinsic than of extrinsic, they
would have higher professional commitment.
3.The variable of workaholism dose not effect
professional commitment obviously. The result
could make engineers who are compelled to obey
the norms from organization or team under an
involuntary deed.
4.The perfectionism is the most explanatory to
the professional commitment of engineers . So
the Perfectionism¡¦s characters are more
obvious and the working attitudes of engineers
would be higher professional commitment.
At last, this study would focus on the limitation of this study, the future study, and management meanings to present brief explanation.

Personal Creative Process ¡V From Integrating Motivation Theories¡¦ ConceptionsLi, Tzung-Luen 30 June 2004 (has links)
Always, researchers are trying to use different ways to describe the concept ¡§Motivation¡¨. Different definition of motivation will develop different theory. However, there are two points under below at least: First is the fitness of the culture, the concept of the Western would have the specific background, will not fit in the individual person with other culture. Second, to ease the verifying of the science, most of the researches only discuss the relationship of immediate variables but neglect the influence of individual personality in different points of time.
This study will combine the concepts of motivation and creativity through integrating work motivation theories and following up Teresa M. Amabile¡¦s research to build up the ¡§Personal Creative Process Model¡¨.
The research model includes: the environment of organization, the process of perception, motivation, behavior and outcome. Especially, process of perception includes personality, criterion and response. ¡§Criterion¡¨ refers to personal need and value which are influenced by social environment and culture in country. Addition, ¡§Response¡¨ refers to attitude and emotion which are influenced by time. In this study, I use the concepts, ¡§Criterion¡¨ and ¡§Response¡¨, to compensate the loss of old motivation theories.
Supposing the variable, ¡§Criterion¡¨, is determined, this study¡¦s purpose will find out the relationship of other variables and how these variables influence creativity. Next, using questionnaire to capture responses of college student and work adult will help us to understand the relationship of these responses. The questionnaire, this study uses, includes: ¡§Cognitive Style Instrument¡¨, ¡§What Is Happening in This Class? Questionnaire¡¨, ¡§KEYS¡¨ and ¡§The Work Preference Inventory¡¨. In addition, this study uses the grade of students to represent personal creativity and analyze the relationship between creativity and other constructs.
The conclusion shows cognitive style indeed affects creativity, but the relations are different from theory. Furthermore, cognitive style and response/motivation are almost independent. To infer, the response and motivation are intervening variables between personality and creativity. Finally, regression analysis by students, this study got the result: ¡§Close by the factor is the key element of the creativity performance¡¨.
