TAIWAN YACHT INDUSTRY MARCHING FORWARD IN INTERNATIONAL MARKET

Yuliana, Poppy 06 July 2007 (has links)
Taiwan Yacht Industry Marching Forward in International Market Within this paper, the Taiwanese yacht industry is being evaluated from its past history to challenge and create its own history in the future. The past-present of Taiwanese yacht industry was being appraised, whether by its strengths and opportunities to emerge suddenly in the market, or even its weaknesses and upcoming threats to survive and conceivably to future itself in the top three of the dominants player in the market. Furthermore, the paper also assess the originality of yacht building worldwide, not to forget the present analysis of the yacht building industry worldwide, where it becomes the based comparison for the possibility of Taiwan yacht industry to enter the front-runner of this market worldly. The study findings show that even though Taiwanese yacht industry has been shockingly brought Taiwan into the top 10 yacht producers in the world in past four years, in case of its mega yachts, however, considering that there are some impediments, Taiwan yacht industry might not be able to enter the front-runner of this market worldly just yet. Therefore, it is suggested that issues related to the relationship between government and the yacht builders especially on the law and regulation wise, public support and yacht builders¡¦ internal premature management will need to be addressed to encourage the domestic yacht builders to compete internationally, considering that the market for yacht worldwide is growing even faster compared to the past-time.

A Study on Planning and Design of Yachts Marina in Taiwan

Cheng, Yu-Jen 25 July 2012 (has links)
The present study investigates in a comprehensive perspective the development and planned design prospect of the proposed yacht marina. As the current yacht docking conditions in Taiwan are generally unsatisfactory, it is necessary in our study to first inspect the inconvenient laws based on review ing the existing docking regulations and their restrictions imposed on yacht docking. The investigation is supplemented with a comparison of foreign examples and brings up the unfavorable conditions restricting the development of yacht cruising, and the respective improving solutions required. The study also discusses the future yacht industry perspective and the leisure habit of our citizen based on a number of datasets. It is anticipated that through the advantage of clustering benefits of the industry (Nanxing Yacht Manufacturing Zone) and the promotion of leisure activities, the yacht docking marina business in Taiwan can be significantly enhanced. The present study, based on yacht industry perspective, has analyzed the necessity of a yacht marina and its benefits on associated industries, and the unfavorable consequences that could probably be generated from the constructionof the marina such as its impacts on natural, ecological and living environments, and discusses the mitigation measures by environmental engineering. The transformation of the fishing marinas in Badouzi, Wushi and Wuqi, on the other hand, is one of the policies under the "Coastal Rehabilitation and Fishery Development Project" actively executed by the government, and the study has carried out various baseline evaluations on all possible scenarios as aresult of this transformation. Chapters on "Assessment of the current conditions of the yacht marinas in Taiwan" and "The design planning of an ideal yacht marina"conclude the study. The former summarizes the opinions and proposed improvement measures provided by related government officials, scholars and businesspersons while the latter proposes various blueprints and substantiated development management concepts of an ideal yacht marina based on consultation of extensive references and foreign examples.

Global Production Networks of Yacht Manufacturing Industry in Kaohsiung

Chang, Pei-wen 18 July 2008 (has links)
Taiwan¡¦s yacht manufacturing driven by overseas buyers has brought Kaohsiung so far from the local, but so close to the world, in a unique relation between the global production networks (GPN) and the local cluster. In accordance with the commodity flow in the economic geography, it formulates the embeddedness within the yacht cluster, connects to the global market, in terms of recognition of ¡§yacht culture¡¨. The method applied in the study is one-to-one interview. The interview records are to be validated by cross-checking with the publicised written documents, and personal experience to the UK boat shows. Firstly, the specialised cluster of Kaohsiung yacht industry is analysed by members, organisations and business trends. Then, the yacht market is explained globally, such as the characteristics of the transnational corporations (TNCs), the commodity chains, and especially, the dealers/brokers, who act as key controller at the sales channel. In addition, the recognition on yacht industry invisibly dominates the aspects of manufacture and business nature, from local to global, which incubates its importance from yacht culture. Finally, the role played by the state for the past years, as supporter and destroyer, is to be evaluated accordingly. Is yacht implied simply as a product, or a life-style? In fact, Taiwan¡¦s yacht manufacturers grouped in a specialised cluster have been benefiting from job flexibility by producing quality items with fast income. However, the business model of Kaohsiung yacht cluster is to be reshaped, due to the demand of branding and creativity, reinforcement of market access, and inevitable global flows of manpower and resources.

This is urgent needed especially at the faded and unused fishing ports due to the depletion of near shore fishery resources. The later is considered a major concern in order to finding a measure for retrieving the downward economy at many fishing villages.
