Allancroft, a small institution which is part of the Children's Service Centre, was opened in 1953 and has been in continuous operation since that time. The institution was a new resource for the agency and the first three years have been a period of experiment. From the vantage point of these three years' experience, it was considered desirable to analyze in some detail the use made of the institution by the C.S.C. in order to determine its value.
