A follow-up study of waiting list drop-outs: a study of sixteen applicants who did not return for treatment to the Psychiatric Department of the Montreal Children's Hospital.

This research report attempts to investigate the significance of the relationship between the use of waiting periods with applicants prior to treatment and the withdrawal of the application for treatment. This area of inquiry will be explored through a study of a sample group of families, who applied for service at a Psychiatric Department and who did not return for treatment after a waiting period. The fact that a large proportion of clients who are put on a waiting list do not return for treatment, was of concern to the researchers because it was not known what happened to these clients.
