A study of the ego concept in personality theory.

This project examines the concept of ego or self in personality theory. It seeks to formulate a conceptual model of ego on the basis of systematic examination and comparison of Freud's psychoanalytic theory, Mead's social psychological theory and the ego psychological theories of Hartmann, Erikson and White. The study of each theory is based on questions relevant to the ego's origin, development, properties, dynamics, functions, and supplementary psychological systems which influence it. [...]
