The male adolescent school dropout.

[...] The original purpose of the study was to explore the relationship between social and economic factors and the decisions of the adolescents in ten familias receiving public assistance from the Montreal City Welfare Department to leave school early. However, it was not possible to obtain an English-speaking sample group of this size. The study was subsequently reformulated toward a dual purpose. Firstly, it was to draw tentative conclusions in relation to the data on the school dropout which the proposed research instrument yielded. These conclusions would be based upon a limited pre-test sample of three families. Secondly, the interview schedule was evaluated in terms of its potentialities for further research in this field of inquiry. [...]
