Bakgrund: Behovet av den palliativa vården på vårdavdelningar ökar då allt fler patienter befinner sig i denna miljö vid livets slut. Många närstående vårdar och finns vid sidan av patienter vid livets slutskede och upplevelserna av denna tid präglas av hur vården och omsorgen ser ut. Sjuksköterskan har i sin roll ett ansvar att stödja samt ha en god dialog med både patienten och deras närstående. Det kan innebära en utmaning för sjuksköterskan att tillgodose de närståendes behov i denna svåra tid samtidigt som vårdandet av patienten förväntas vara i fokus. Syfte: Syftet var att belysa närståendes upplevelser av palliativ vård för patienter i livets slutskede på vårdavdelning Metod: Metoden som valdes var en litteraturöversikt där elva artiklar inkluderades i resultatet och analyserades enligt Fribergs metod. De databaser som användes var CINAHL Complete och PubMed. Resultat: Två teman med fyra subteman presenterades i resultatet. Det första temat var Vårdpersonalens bemötande, subteman till det var Kommunikation samt Stöd. Det andra temat var Vården av patienten, subteman till det var Delaktighet samt Värdighet i vården och ett fridfullt avslut. Sammanfattning: De centrala delarna som var av betydelse för närståendes upplevelser ställer krav på sjuksköterskans bemötande. Genom belysandet av närståendes upplevelser, blev sjuksköterskans roll framträdande. Det blev tydligt att kompetens och förmågor bör besittas hos sjuksköterskan för att kunna stödja de närstående på bästa sätt. / Background: The need for palliative care in hospital wards increases and many loved ones' are caring for patients at the end of life. The experiences of loved ones' are characterized by the given care from the nurses. The nurse has a responsibility to support and have a good dialogue with the patient and their loved ones'. It can be a challenge for the nurse to meet the needs of the loved ones' while the care of the patient is expected to be in focus. Aim: The aim of this litterature review was to describe the loved ones' experiences of palliative care to patient´s at the end of life in inpatient care. Method: A literature review was chosen as the method. Eleven scientific articles were included and the results were analyzed according to Friberg's method. The articles were retrieved from the databases CINAHL Complete and PubMed. Results: Two themes with four sub-themes were presented in the results. The first theme was The healthcare staff's response, sub-themes for this were Communication and Support. The second theme consisted of The care of the patient, sub-themes for this were Participation and Dignity care; a peaceful death. Conclusion: The central parts of importance for the loved ones' experiences demands on the nurse's treatment. By illuminating the loved ones' experiences, the role of the nurse became prominent. It became clear that competence and abilities should be retained by the nurse in order to be able to support the loved ones' in the best way.
