The purpose of this essay is to explore a new way to incorporate lived religion into everyday teaching. The aim is to theoretically examine the potential of using brochures from various churches to add nuance to religious teaching in school, which often tend to become abstract. Research have shown that integrating lived religion in school requires considerable time to be beneficial for students understanding of religion. Religious education in Swedish secondary school is one of the most time-limited subjects. To cover all necessary content, lessons often become abstract, with few elements highlighting the diversity within each religion due to the efficiency of this abstract approach. The essay´s theoretical framework is based on Thérèse Halvarsson Brittons lecture design, which helps to understand the potential of these brochures in a lesson context. All brochures were collected from eight different local churches representing various Christian communities. All available brochures were gathered and analysed thorough content analysis, then integrated into the theoretical framework to understand their use in everyday teaching. The results show that some brochures have the potential to be used in a classroom context to teach lived religion and demonstrate Christian diversity. Brochures from two of the churches have more potential than the others for use in everyday teaching. However, there is also a potential to use all the brochures to illustrate the diversity within Christianity. Although there is a theoretical potential to use the material in ordinary teaching, further studies are needed to determine how well the material adepts in practice.
