This study attempts to identify the ways in which Al Jazeera English and CNN reporton the same conflict, from October 7, 2023, to November 24, 2023. The study finds starkdifferences in their coverage, highlighting editorial standpoints and geopolitical perspectivesfor both news agencies. Al Jazeera English focused intensively on the conflict with groundreporting, framing Israeli actions as highly aggressive. In contrast, CNN balanced itsreporting with other news stories and commercial pieces, using more varied language andoften leaning on official statements from the Israeli and U.S. governments, CNN focusedmore on Israeli victims than Palestinian ones and vice versa. To address the gap in theliterature, the research aims to check and balance the Western and non-Western perspectivesand examines the role of media framing in conflict. It emphasizes the importance of a criticalpress and media literacy for fostering an informed public debate.
