AbstractThe overall purpose of this paper is to describe whether, and if so, how the principals in their profession are influenced by the govern from "Öppna jämförelser". In order to answer the research questions, the principal's perceptions about their profession need to be made visible. The choice of method therefore becomes interviews (Esaiasson, et al., 2011, pp. 252-256). The four principal correspondents are active in two municipal and two private school organizations within two municipalities. A private school and a municipal principal are interviewed from each municipality. The theoretical starting points are theories of management of professions and Gore's theory of discipline based on Foucault's ideas of power.The results of this study show that the principal profession practice is influenced by govern based on "Öppna jämförelser". " Öppna jämförelser " as a management tool also create changing authority mechanisms within school organizations. Relations have changed based on power, and according to respondents, clearer authority has been created for the mandator and parents. The main difference between the principal’s experience between private schools and municipal schools is the distance to the mandator.
