O objetivo geral era conhecer quais relações a história ensinada relativa à América Latina estabelece com a formação da consciência histórica de jovens brasileiros. Em particular, desejou-se compreender qual a contribuição dos conteúdos latino-americanos na grade curricular de ensino para a formação histórica dos sujeitos na escola, tendo em vista que estes saberes são fundamentais na construcão identitária dos jovens no mundo atual. Medotologicamente, a pesquisa foi constituída em três etapas essenciais: a primeira envolveu uma investigação bibliográfica sobre a temática apresentada neste projeto o ensino de História da América Latina e a formação da consciência histórica; a segunda envolveu o estudo do campo onde a pesquisa foi realizada o CA da UFSC e a disciplina ELA; e a terceira envolveu uma pesquisa qualitativa com os sujeitos da pesquisa jovens que cursam a 7ª série no CA em 2009, caracterizando um estudo de caso. Portanto, a seleção da amostra foi intencional e não probabilística. Os resultados obtidos apontam que é possível afirmar que existe sim relação entre a história ensinada na disciplina de ELA e a formação de uma consciência histórica latino-americana. Isso esclarece sobre a contribuição dos conteúdos latino-americanos na grade curricular de ensino para a formação histórica dos sujeitos na escola. No entanto, esse aprendizado ainda não orienta as ações desses indivíduos nas tomadas de decisão face aos problemas da América Latina no presente. / This research proposed to investigate the construction of a Latin American historical awareness in the discipline of Latin American Studies (ELA) of the 7th series of the college of application (CA), Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC). The overall objective was to know which links the history taught - on Latin America # establishes with the historical awareness formation of young Brazilians. In particular, I was desire to understand what is the contribution of Latin American content in the teaching curriculum for the historical formation of the subjects at school, considering that these are basic knowledge in the identity construction of young people in the world today. Methodologically, the survey consisted of three essential steps: the first involved literature search on the topic presented in this project - the teaching of Latin American history and the historical awareness formation; and the second involved the study of the field where the research was conducted - CA UFSC and ELA discipline; and the third one involved a qualitative study among the research subjects - students who attend the 7th grade in CA in 2009, characterizing a case study. Therefore, the sample selection was intentional and not probabilistic. The results show that is possible to affirm there is relationship between the history taught in the ELA discipline and the construction of a Latin American historical awareness. This clarifies the contribution of Latin American content in the teaching curriculum for the historical formation of the subjects at school. However, this learning still does not guide the actions of these individuals in decision making face to the problems of Latin America at the present.
