The purpose of this essay is to investigate how the asylum process affects the asylum searchers. Earlier research has concluded partly contradictory conclusions. The area is in western Europe and Sweden in particular a big and hot one, rapidly changing and filled with opinions.Methods used is a qualitative method, collecting and analyzing texts to try to understand the experience of applying for asylum and to get an overall look over the effets this process has on the very people in it.I used two different theories to analyze information. These were: - The theory of SOC - Sense of Coherence (In Swedish KASAM) -The theory of Social Constructivism.The results of this included the understanding of the big problem of misunderstandings between the Swedish authorities and the asylum seekers leading to a number of effects such as bigger feeling of hopelessness, misunderstanding of authorities being biased and being beneficial to some groups of asylum seekers which can lead to a more general lack of trust in the state and its authorities potentially having big impact in integration.1
