Previous issue date: 2016-09-09 / This study aims to demonstrate the construction of religious identity of Church of God,
and rescue her in time, it is argument and explanation of the doctrine and the reason
for the church and manifests itself as a narrative of the past. The emergence of the
name of God's Church in the United States in the late nineteenth century, occurred at
a time when the religious liberalism gained strength in the Protestant church, both in
America and in Europe. People not satisfied with the theological conditions in the
churches of whom were members cried, calling for a revival. Then, on August 19, 1886,
in rural mountainous region between the states of Tennessee and North Carolina
comes, the church at first received the name of Christian Union and later, in May 1902,
changed to Church of Holiness and finally in 1907 and adopted the name Church of
God. According to history, in 1907 the growth of the church has manifested itself in all
dimensions: numerical, administrative, social, educational, missionary, spiritual and
evangelism, being present today, as organized churches in 178 countries and more
than 7 million members. We discuss its historical presence in the state of Goiás, your
identity in religion champ. / Esse trabalho tem como objetivo demostrar a construção da identidade religiosa da
Igreja de Deus, de matriz pentecostal, ao estudá-la no tempo, bem como explicar suas
doutrinas e a razão de ser da igreja. O surgimento da denominação ocorreu nos
Estados Unidos da América, no final do século dezenove, e deu-se numa época em
que o liberalismo religioso ganhava força na igreja protestante, tanto na América como
na Europa. Pessoas não satisfeitas com as condições teológicas nas igrejas das quais
eram membros pediam um avivamento. Então, em 19 de agosto de 1886, na zona
rural da região montanhosa entre os estados do Tennessee e da Carolina do Norte
surge, a surgiu a igreja que, de início, recebeu o nome de União Cristã sendo depois,
em maio de 1902, mudado para Igreja da Santidade e finalmente em 1907 e adotou-
se o nome de Igreja de Deus . De acordo com a história, a partir de 1907 o crescimento
da igreja tem se manifestado em várias dimensões: numérica, administrativa, social,
educacional, missionária, espiritual, estando presente hoje em
178 países, com mais de 7 milhões de membros. Trataremos de sua presença
histórica no estado de Goiás, suas transformações e a demarcação de sua identidade
no campo religioso goiano.
