Bakgrund: Patienter och anhöriga upplever det viktigt att sjuksköterskor lyssnade på deras berättelse, önskemål samt att de fick vara delaktiga i beslut gällande vården. Att patienter fick både fysiskt och emotionellt stöd av sjuksköterskor upplevdes som viktigt. Vidare framkom att det från bland annat lagar och styrdokument att det var viktigt att patienter och anhöriga får aktuell information. Dock upplever patienter och anhöriga att kommunikationen och informationen från sjuksköterskor kunde vara bristande. Syfte: Att beskriva sjuksköterskors upplevelser av att vårda inom palliativ vård. Metod: Beskrivande litteraturstudie med beskrivande syntes av 11 kvalitativa artiklar. Resultat: Sjuksköterskors upplevelse av att vårda inom palliativ vård beskrivs utifrån två teman och fem subteman. Temat ”Betydelsen av att hantera utmaningar” presenteras genom subteman ”Att behöva ha kunskap”, ”Att samverka i vårdteamet” och ”Att vara känslomässigt engagerad”. Temat ”Betydelsen av att se patienters och anhörigas behov” presenteras genom subteman ”Vikten av att vårda enligt patienters önskemål” och ”Vikten av att stödja anhöriga”. Slutsats: Kunskapsbristen kring palliativ vård hos sjuksköterskor påverkar kvalitén på den palliativa vården. Sjuksköterskor behöver därför utveckla sin kompetens inom ämnet genom utbildning. Utöver detta är sjuksköterskor även i behov av stöd för att bättre kunna hantera de egna känslorna relaterade till att vårda inom palliativ vård. / Background: Patients and relatives feel that it is important that nurses listened to their story, wishes and that they were allowed to participate in decisions regarding the care. That patients received both physical and emotional support from nurses was perceived as important. Furthermore it emerged that, among other things, laws and governing documents indicated that it was important that patients and relatives receive current information. However, patients and relatives feel that the communication and information from nurses could be insufficient. Aim: To describe nurses' experiences of nursing in palliative care. Method: Descriptive literature study with descriptive synthesis of 11 qualitative articles. Results: Nurses' experience of nursing in palliative care is described based on two themes and five subthemes. The theme “The importance of handling challenges” is presented through the subthemes "To need knowledge", “To cooperate in the care team” and “Being emotionally involved”. The theme “The importance of seeing the needs of patients and relatives" is presented through the subthemes “The importance of caring according to patients' wishes” and “The importance of supporting relatives". Conclusion: The lack of knowledge about palliative care among nurses affects the quality of palliative care. Nurses therefore need to develop their competence in the topic through education. In addition to this, nurses are also in need of support to better manage their own feelings related to nursing in palliative care.
