This paper aims to study how private relations affect student organization executives' conflict management in the working area. Also, how these executives manage the internal conflict between the friendship- and executive role. The paper uses Goffman's role theory, Hochschild's emotional labor theory, Festinger's theory about cognitive dissonance, and Franzén’s theories about power to analyze and present the experiences of role conflicts from ten executives in Uppsala’s student organizations, in regard to their answers during interviews. We find that of the interviewed executives, they seem to seldom separate the roles of friend and boss completely. The closeness of the relationship outside of the professional seems to decide the difficulty of managing the internal conflict of role taking.
