Previous issue date: 2004 / Resumo: Desde a sua primeira concepção até os dias atuais, inúmeras melhorias na técnica de confecção, nas ligas, nos diversos materiais utilizados nas mais variadas etapas do processo de obtenção da prótese, foram obtidas, porém pouco se fez para aquilatar o que realmente uma Prótese Parcial Removível (PPR) consegue restituir ao indivíduo que a adquiriu. Sabe-se que esta aparatologia, não restitui a plenitude da força mastigatória e também das demais funções (fonética e estética). Quando se revisa a literatura nacionaL pouco ou praticamente nada se encontra sobre parâmetros de comparação e/ou metodologias capazes de avaliar a satisfação do indivíduo que utiliza a PPR Em vista desta situação, buscou-se neste estudo, verificar inicialmente junto aos Cirurgiões-Dentistas de Piracicaba-SP, o quanto estes possuem de conhecimento sobre instalação de PPR, verificar juntos aos laboratórios que fazem todas as fases das PPRs, como estes recebem os modelos enviados pelos Cirurgiões-Dentistas para confecção das mesmas, avaliar 228 PPRs já instaladas (sendo 120 instaladas por Cirurgiões-Dentistas com consultório particular e 108 instaladas por graduandos do último semestre da Faculdade de Odontologia de Piracicaba) e analisar a literatura nacional e a legislação pertinente sobre a responsabilidade civil de todos os envolvidos com a PPR (Cirurgião-Dentista, laboratório, e o indivíduo consumidor destes apareUtos). Após a efetiva análise estatística, concluiu-se que os Cirurgiões-Dentistas da cidade de Piracicaba-SP possuem conhecimentos precários necessários para o estabelecimento de um bom planejamento, confecção, bem como, uma correta avaliação das próteses parciais removíveis instaladas e proservação das mesmas; os modelos para confecção de Próteses Parciais Removíveis, enviados à maioria dos laboratórios de prótese, que efetivamente confeccionam a PPR, da cidade de Piracicaba-SP, encontram-se na sua quase totalidade, sem qualquer indício de preparo da boca (nichos, planos guia, entre outros), bem como os mesmos foram enviados sem a indicação e ou o planejamento das mesmas. As PPRs avaliadas, confeccionadas pelos graduandos da Faculdade de Odontologia de Piracicaba-UNICAMP e pelos Cirurgiões-Dentistas particulares, foram consideradas aceitáveis, denotando-se nas realizadas pelos graduandos, uma meUtor performance nos aspectos: fala e mastigação. Para o item estética, os resultados foram silimares. Os indivíduos portadores de PPRs, na sua maioria estão satisfeitos e as indicariam; a legislação e jurisprudência concernente à responsabilidade pelos serviços prestados no tocante à PPR, coloca o Cirurgião-Dentista como o único responsável pelo serviços de Diagnóstico, planejamento, execução na cavidade bucal, escolha da cor dos dentes, da cor da resina, do tipo, forma e tamanho dos dentes, instalação, avaliação e proservação. Ao Técnico de Pró tese Dentária (TPD) e/ou chefe do Laboratório caberá apenas a responsabilidade pelos serviços de fundição, polimento, montagem dos dentes, polimerização e acabamento fmal. Ao indivíduo consumidor de serviços, caberá, cuidados com manuseio, higienização e limpeza, cuidados com a dieta e a consulta sistemática ao Cirurgião-Dentista, de acordo com
as prescrições do mesmo, ou em qualquer situação que se faça necessária.
