Previous issue date: 2013-04-19 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This research is devoted to an analytical emergence and development of the game of soccer, in the city of Florianópolis, between the years 190 to 1918. The soccer is treated as object motivated in this dissertation because there are evidences that the breed of Jesuit, current Colégio Catarinense, which started its activities in 1906, participated in relative importance in the early game, this, in the context of a sports activity in the city. For dealing with issues about soccer, are used in this Dissertation ideas of Norbert Elias and Eric Dunning, about leisure and sport as part of the theory of the civilizing process, in dialogue with some of the ideas of Michel Foucault, specially on issues of pastoral power. This work is organized in two parts. 1. Comes the time the non soccer, presents aspects of the pastimes of the nineteenth century in Desterro, and, within the early republican in Florianópolis, explores the relationship between two institutions linked to the government of Santa Catarina, the Gym Jesuit, the called Ginásio Santa Catarina, which catered only to the male audience, besides being the only secondary school in the city; and the newspaper O Dia Organ of the Republican Party of the Santa Catarina. 2. Comes the time soccer, presents activities of pastime from Ginásio Santa Catarina and the early and development until 1918, the soccer in the city, from the Jesuit Gym. The results indicate that the Colégio Catarinense was important disseminator of the game of soccer within the sports activies, and promoted, in an interdependent relationship with the news paper O Dia, in production, the part of youth, in visibility in a manner to be, act, conduct, as a voluntary choice, called in this dissertation ethos of the soccer. Then, such a mark of belonging and task within the game of soccer in the city of Florianópolis, is due especially, the connection established between the practices of the College of Santa Catarina and visibility of the game in the press of the newspaper O Dia / A presente pesquisa dedica-se a uma analítica do surgimento e desenvolvimento do jogo de futebol na cidade de Florianópolis entre os anos de 1906 a 1918. O futebol tratado como objeto é motivado nesta dissertação pelo fato de haver indícios de que o educandário jesuítico, atual Colégio Catarinense, que inicia suas atividades no ano de 1906, participou com relativa importância no início do jogo, este, no âmbito de uma atividade de esporte, na cidade. Para tratar das questões que derivam do futebol, são utilizadas nesta Dissertação as ideias de Norbert Elias e Eric Dunning, sobre lazer e esporte, no âmbito da teoria do processo civilizador, em diálogo com algumas das ideias de Michel Foucault, principalmente sobre questões do poder pastoral. Este trabalho se organiza em duas partes. 1. Trata do tempo do não futebol, apresenta aspectos dos passatempos na Desterro do século XIX, e, no âmbito do início republicano na cidade de Florianópolis, tece relações entre duas instituições ligadas ao governo do Estado, o educandário jesuítico, denominado na época de Ginásio Santa Catarina, o qual atendia apenas ao público masculino, além de ser o único estabelecimento de ensino secundário na cidade; e o jornal O Dia - Órgão do Partido Republicano Catarinense. 2. Trata do tempo do futebol, apresenta atividades de passatempo do Ginásio Santa Catarina e o início e desenvolvimento até 1918, do futebol na cidade, a partir do educandário jesuíta. Os resultados apontam que o Colégio Catarinense foi importante disseminador do jogo de futebol no âmbito das atividades esportivas, e promoveu, numa relação interdependente com o jornal O Dia, na produção, a uma parte da juventude, da visibilidade de um modo de ser, agir, conduzir, enquanto escolha voluntária, denominada nesta Dissertação de ethos futebolístico. Portanto, tal marca de pertencimento e de tarefa no âmbito do jogo de futebol na cidade de Florianópolis, deve-se, sobretudo, à ligação que se estabeleceu entre as práticas do Colégio Catarinense e a visibilidade do jogo junto à imprensa do jornal O Dia
