Objetiva investigar o desempenho de informantes surdos em Língua Portuguesa, na modalidade escrita, como segunda língua, que tenham acesso através da primeira língua, a Língua de Sinais Brasileira. Para isto, selecionam-se, no Ensino Fundamental, crianças surdas, na faixa etária de 8 a 11 anos, usuárias de língua de sinais, que interagem com professora ouvinte, instrutora e monitora surdas. Realizam-se filmagens de episódios e práticas de letramento, em situações cotidianas na sala de aula, durante os anos 2000, 2001 e 2002, com a participação da pesquisadora e da intérprete de sinais. Dessa forma, identifica informantes surdos pré-lingüísticos, usuários da Língua de Sinais Brasileira; verifica a sua capacidade de compreender e se expressar em sinais; observa a influência de sua primeira língua (L1) no desempenho de uma segunda língua (L2), na modalidade escrita; analisa as produções escritas destes informantes para avaliar este processo. Focaliza os processos interacionais que tomam lugar, por meio da língua de sinais, na construção da escrita na sala de aula. Adota como pressupostos as proposições teóricas da Lingüística Interdependente e do conceito de interlíngua. Considera as línguas de sinais como o caminho natural pelo qual as crianças surdas podem se comunicar de modo efetivo e se desenvolver cognitivamente _ razão por que se julga necessário oferecer-lhes oportunidade de aquisição desta língua o mais precoce possível. (Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: This study focuses the appropriation of the writing, and its use, of the Portuguese as a Second Language, by deaf children who have the Brazilian Language of Signals as their first language. For this, children carrying bilateral serious deafness, at the ages of eight to 11 years old, from Elementary School are chosen. They interact with the head teacher who is not deaf and with an instructor and her helper who are deaf. Daily routines in the classroom, such as literacy are recorded with a camera during the years 2000, 2001 and 2002, with the participation of the researcher and the signal translator. This work identifies subjects carrying pre-linguistic serious deaf who are users of the Brazilian Language of Signals; it verifies their ability to understand and to express themselves through hand signals; it observes the influence of their first language (L1) on their performance when writing a second language (L2); it analyzes the written productions of these subjects in order to evaluate this process. It focuses the interactionism processes that take place, by means of the language of signals, in the construction of the writing in the classroom. It adopts as estimated the theoretical proposals of The Linguistic Interdependence Theory and concept of interlanguage. It considers the languages of signals as the natural way of which deaf children can communicate themselves in an effective way and have a cognitive development _ reason to why is thought necessary to offer them the chance of acquiring this language as early as possible.
