Neste trabalho, são analisadas as relações de comparação e metáfora entre os personagens de Iracema e a natureza, cenário do romance. O intuito, porém, não foi apenas fazer uma listagem dos pontos do romance em que essas relações ocorrem, mas fazer a ligação entre elas e o contexto literário, político e social da época em que o romance foi produzido. Analisando a união dos grupos da natureza utilizados com seu personagem correspondente, podemos perceber que a escolha das metáforas não é gratuita, mas possui profunda correspondência com os objetivos e idéias tanto do autor como de toda uma geração. Assim, a personagem Iracema é normalmente relacionada a um conjunto de seres da natureza, enquanto Martim é normalmente relacionado a outro conjunto, o que nos permite interpretar o status relacionado a cada personagem e por que. Logo, a partir dessas detalhes, podemos verificar aspectos literários, sociais e políticos importantes da época. Creio que o trabalho, com esse enfoque, não seja estéril, porém, muito pelo contrário, seja útil para compreendermos melhor as obras de uma época (no caso, o Brasil Império) e sua ligação com o contexto em que foram criadas. / Here, we analyze the relations of comparison and metaphor between the characters in \"Iracema\" and nature, the scene of the novel. The intention, however, was not just making a list of points of the novel in which these relationships occur, but make the connection between them and the literary, political and social context of the era in which the novel was produced. Looking at the union of the groups used unaltered with its corresponding character, we can see that the choice of metaphors is not free, but has profound relevance to the wishes and ideas of the writer and of the generation. Thus, the character Iracema is usually related to a set of the nature, while Martin is usually related to another set, what allows us to interpret the status related to each character and why. Therefore, from these details, we can verify aspects of literary, social and political importance of the time. I believe that working, with this approach, it is not sterile, but on the contrary, will be useful to better understand the works of an era (in this case, the Brazil Empire) and its link with the context in which they were created.
