In diesem Beitrag werden historische, medientheoretische,
sprachphilosophische
und den Betitelungsvorgang betreffende
Überlegungen angestellt, um den Bildtitel
als Autonomie stiftendes Instrument zu
beschreiben. Ziel ist die Beantwortung der
Frage nach der Rolle der Bildtitel im Werk
des in der DDR wirkenden Künstlers Wolfgang
Mattheuer hinsichtlich seiner künstlerischen
und persönlichen Selbstbehauptung.
Die Darstellung umfasst acht Ebenen,
auf denen der Bildtitel kämpft und Beihilfe
zur Unabhängigkeit eines Künstlers leistet.
Dies geschieht generell in ‚Konflikt und
Gegnerschaft‘ zu systemischen Bedingungen
und ist nicht nur in der ehemaligen
DDR relevant. Darüber hinaus gibt der
Beitrag Einblicke in die Beziehung von Titeltext
und Bild, in der der Bildtitel selbst
beschränkt Autonomie entfaltet. / Historical, media theoretical, and language
philosophical considerations and thoughts
about the naming of paintings will be discussed
in this article that aims to describe
the image title as an instrument establishing
autonomy. Within the scope of this
work, it will be examined which role image
titles play in the oeuvre of GDR artist
Wolfgang Mattheuer – in light of artistic
and personal self-assertion. The description
includes eight levels on which the image
title acts and makes its contribution to
the independence of an artist. This happens
in ‘conflict and enmity’ to systemic
conditions and is not solely relevant in the
former GDR. The article offers interesting
insights into the relationship between title
text and painting in which the image title
itself develops and unfolds a form of restricted
autonomy.
