Previous issue date: 1997 / Resumo: Neste trabalho de pesquisa pretendemos analisar a formação acadêmica da professora de deficiência mental do Centro de Educação Especial Egydio Pedreschi, da cidade de Ribeirão Preto-SP, aflll1 de compreendermos sua relação com os pressupostos construtivistas na educação escolar de deficientes mentais. Com a realização desta pesquisa, pudemos comprovar nossa hipótese, ou seja, aquelas professoras encontram dificuldades em realizar um trabalho pedagógico com deficientes mentais à luz dos pressupostos construtivistas. Apesar de constatada nossa hipótese, o andamento da pesquisa, nos conduziu a novas reflexões, pois, mesmo esta professora sendo habilitada em deficiência mental, seu trabalho com os alunos não se diferencia do trabalho realizado na rede regular de ensino. Por isso, com esta pesquisa tivemos a possibilidade de rever o significado, se este existir, do deficiente mental estar segregado numa instituição especial ao invés de estar frequentando uma escola da rede regular. Assim pudemos refletir, sem no momento nos aprofundamos, a respeito da escola inclusiva, discussão esta que pretendemos dar continuidade numa próxima pesquisa / Abstract: Through this work we analyse the academic qualificacion of the teacher for mentally handicapped of the Centro de Educação Especial "Egydio Pedreschi" in the city of Ribeirão Preto-SP, in order to understand its relation to the construtctive presumption in educating menta1ly handicapped. By doing this research we could confirm our theoty, that is, those teachers fmd it difficult to have their job done with menta1lY handicapped inspired by constructive presumptibn. Although we comfIrm our theory, the research itself led us to new reflections cause even though this teacher was qualified for teaching mentally handicapped, her work among the students is not different from the work done on regular schools. So, we had the possibility to revise the meaning, if there is one,of this mental handicapped being discriminated in a special institution instead of attending a regular schoo1. Therefore we could think, without going any deeper, about this inclusive school, and this subject analyse on a further research / Mestrado / Ciencias Sociais Aplicadas à Educação / Mestre em Educação
