Previous issue date: 1998 / Resumo: O seguro de responsabilidade civil profissional para cirurgiões-dentistas foi, em épocas passadas, oferecido no mercado brasileiro sem que houvesse interesse dos profissionais em adquiri-lo. Recentemente, algumas empresas seguradoras começaram a comercializar, novamente, este tipo de benefício. O objetivo do trabalho consiste em prestar aos cirurgiões-dentistas informações detalhadas a respeito do assunto, para auxiliá-los na avaliação dos contratos propostos pelas seguradoras, com vistas à decisão sobre a importância atual de um seguro de responsabilidade civil profissional, no exercício de sua profissão. Para avaliação do mercado consumidor de seguro desta natureza, realizou-se pesquisa entre os cirurgiões-dentistas, através de 100(cem) questionários, com perguntas referentes ao assunto, distribuídos, aleatoriamente, entre cirurgiões-dentistas professores das diferentes escolas brasileiras de Odontologia. Para avaliação das propostas, analisou-se as cláusulas contratuais de apólices oferecidas no mercado por três diferentes empresas seguradoras. Pela análise dos dados, verificou-se que os cirurgiões-dentistas têm conhecimento do assunto, acreditando ser necessário um seguro de responsabilidade civil profissional, porém, sentem-se em dúvida com relação a uma série de fatores próprios relativos a esta espécie de benefício. Na atualidade, a interação de todos os aspectos referentes a um seguro de responsabilidade civil profissional é fator importante para o cirurgião-dentista decidir sobre a aquisição de um benefício desta natureza. / Abstract: The professional liability insurance for dentistries was, in last times, offered in the Brazilian market, without there was the professional's interest in acquiring it. Recently, some companies began to market, again, this benefit type. The objective of this work consists of rendering to the surgeon-dentists information regarding the subject, to help them in the evaluation of the contracts proposed by the insurance companies, with views to the decision on the current importance of an professional liability insurance, in the exercise of its profession. For the evaluation of the consuming market of insurance of this nature, its took place by researches among the surgeon-dentists, through 100 questionnaires with referring questions to the subject, distributed, among teachers of the different schools of brasilian's dentistry. For the evaluation of the proposals, the contractual clauses of policies offered in the market by three insurance's companies was analyzed. For the analysis of the data, it was verified that the surgeon-dentists have knowledge of the subject, believing to be necessary an professional liability insurance, even so, they feel doubtful with relationship to a series of relative own factors to this benefit species. The interaction of all the referring aspects to an professional liability insurance is important factor for the surgeon-dentist to decide about the acquisition of a benefit of this nature. / Doutorado
