Entre suas teorias, abordagens sentimentais tiveram pouco destaque, sendo David Hume e Adam Smith algumas exceções. Este texto parte do conceito de Simpatia destes autores para sustentar o conceito de Empatia, reforçando sua dimensão original estética e intersubjetiva, e base emocional e intuitiva, que jazem sob qualquer sistema ético e têm apelo universal justamente por serem íntimas e inerentes à natureza humana. Tal abordagem ganha cada vez mais importância na ciência contemporânea, e sempre esteve envolvida nas religiões. Não se podendo legislar sentimentos, não se trata de prescrever novas regras práticas, mas em aperfeiçoar nossa sensibilidade e ajudar a modelar uma mentalidade mais gregária, pela via original da emulação. A Empatia é simbolizada pela Regra de Ouro, e esse apelo, aponta para algo mais que construir um sistema Ético Dourado, mas uma Estética Empática, que reafirma a união do Bem e da Beleza. _________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / Given its long history, complexity, and social relevance, Ethics is a key subject in Philosophy. Among its theories, sentimental approaches received little attention, with David Hume and Adam Smith as part of the few exceptions. This work, taking the concept of Sympathy given by these authors as its starting point, develops the concept of Empathy, highlighting its originally aesthetic and inter-subjective dimension, as well as its intuitive and emotional foundations, which underlie any ethical system and presents universal appeal, as intimate and inherent to human nature. Such approach is obtaining increasing importance to contemporary science, and has always been present among religions. As it is impossible to impose feelings, the aim is not to prescribe new practical rules, but rather to perfect our sensibility and help shaping a more gregarious mentality through the old method of emulation. Empathy is represented by the Golden Rule, and its appeal points out to something more than building a Golden Aesthetic System; it leads to an Empathic Aesthetics, which reaffirms the unity of Goodness and Beauty.
