Since the description of the pronunciation of Brazilian Portuguese (BP) still represents a field of
research little studied, if we compare the research in this field with other areas of the Portuguese
language studies (LP), we realize the importance of developing a work that would help fill some
of the gaps regarding the description of this language and its different uses. In addition, we seek,
in relation to treatment / teaching of unstressed oral vowels to foreigners, present a theoretical and
methodological proposal based on the presuppositions of communicative approach. Therefore, we
present some discussions about the pronunciation(s) of the Brazilian variety of PL in its use and
operation in the teaching-learning Portuguese as a Foreign Language (PFL), with the aim of
reflecting on their interfaces with the linguistic policies and plannings which aim of the promotion
and dissemination of this language in the international and globalized scenery, and the main
methods and approaches to language teaching, in order to verify the forms of treatment dispensed
to the teaching of pronunciation. / Uma vez que a descrição da pronúncia do Português Brasileiro (PB) ainda se configura como um
campo de investigação preterido, se comparado às pesquisas nesse âmbito com as de outras áreas
dos estudos da língua portuguesa (LP), percebemos a importância de desenvolver um trabalho que
ajudasse, em certa medida, a preencher algumas das lacunas existentes no tocante à descrição
dessa língua e seus diferentes usos. Além disso, buscamos, no que tange ao tratamento/ensino das
vogais orais pré-tônicas a estrangeiros, apresentar uma proposta teórico-metodológica à luz dos
pressupostos da abordagem comunicativa. Para tanto, apresentamos algumas discussões acerca
da(s) pronúncia(s) da variedade brasileira da LP em seu uso e funcionamento no ensinoaprendizagem
do Português como Língua Estrangeira (PLE), com o fito de refletir sobre as suas
interfaces com as políticas e planificações linguísticas que visam à promoção e difusão desse
idioma no cenário internacional e globalizado, e com os principais métodos e abordagens de
ensino de línguas, a fim de verificar as formas de tratamento dispensadas ao ensino da pronúncia.
