Previous issue date: 2017-06-28 / There are various themes in Education that stand out in academic discussion. Among them, the Institutional Evaluation, assuredly, imposes itself, due to its relevance and, above all, for all the research done that hasn’t yet exhausted the full extent of its meaning. The current research was carried out in the context of the Stricto Sensu Postgraduate course of the Universidade do Oeste Paulista (UNOESTE) and is linked to the line of research Public Policies in Education, Educational Practices and Diversity. The aim of this study was to analyze the impact of institutional evaluation policies in force in our country to the practices developed in higher education institutions, as well as their implications to the management of such institution, given the results achieved in the institutional evaluation. This research was conducted in two higher education institutions and is characterized as a study case of qualitative approach. The subjects were managers, course coordinators, teachers and students who belong to the permanent staff in the researched institutions. The search for thorough knowledge of SINAES had become an urgent need and has entered the daily lives of people and institutions. The evaluative system’s pressure has become more intense given the State’s control and because of the use of mechanisms based on evaluation parameters, incoherent and unequal in their responsibilities, although justified by the discourse of the promotion of quality in education. It is clear that the institutional evaluation should become an instrument to be used by the institutions to overcome their weaknesses, allowing their development from the real needs of the academic community and, therefore, enabling the improvement of its management and, as a consequence, achieving quality in higher education. The analysis of the research data revealed significant aspects related to the understanding of the quality of higher education and the obstacles presented in the SINAES Law, and, above all, the impact of the results of the institutional evaluation in the management of the Higher Education Institutions researched. / Diante dos diversos temas da Educação, que se destacam no contexto do debate acadêmico, seguramente, a Avaliação Institucional se impõe, por sua relevância e, sobretudo, porque as inúmeras pesquisas realizadas, ainda não deram conta de esgotar toda a dimensão do seu significado. A partir desse entendimento, a presente pesquisa, vinculada ao programa de Pós-graduação Stricto Sensu mantido pela Universidade do Oeste Paulista (UNOESTE) vinculado à linha de pesquisa Políticas Públicas em Educação, Práticas Educativas e Diversidade, apresenta-se como resultado de um estudo que teve como objetivo analisar as influências das políticas de avaliação institucional vigentes no país para as práticas desenvolvidas no interior das instituições de ensino superior, bem como, suas implicações na gestão da instituição de ensino superior, diante dos resultados alcançados na avaliação institucional. A realização da pesquisa implicou no estudo efetivado em duas instituições de ensino superior. Nessa dimensão, caracterizou-se como um trabalho de abordagem qualitativa e do tipo estudo de caso. Os sujeitos da pesquisa foram os gestores, coordenadores de cursos, docentes e discentes pertencentes ao quadro efetivo das instituições pesquisadas. A busca pelo conhecimento aprofundado do SINAES tornou-se uma necessidade urgente e adentrou o cotidiano das instituições e da vida das pessoas. A pressão do sistema avaliativo tem se acirrado cada vez mais, a partir do controle do Estado e por meio do uso de mecanismos pautados em parâmetros de avaliação, incoerentes e desiguais em suas responsabilidades, ainda que justificados pelo discurso da promoção da qualidade na educação. Evidencia-se que a avaliação institucional deve tornar-se um instrumento a ser utilizado pelas instituições para superação de suas fragilidades, permitindo seu desenvolvimento a partir das reais necessidades da comunidade acadêmica, possibilitando, assim, o aprimoramento de sua gestão e, em consequência, alcançando a tão sonhada qualidade na educação superior. A análise dos dados da pesquisa revelou aspectos significativos relacionados ao entendimento da questão da qualidade da educação superior e os entraves apresentados pela Lei do SINAES, e, sobretudo, a influência dos resultados obtidos na avaliação institucional na gestão das Instituições de Ensino Superior ora pesquisadas.
