Uppgiften för projektet var att rita en varvsbyggnad på den västra delen av ön Beckholmen i Stockholm. Varvsbyggnaden är menad åt ett reparationsvarv, som utför reparationer av de medelstora till större fartyg som trafikerar Stockholms skärgård, och ska göra det möjligt för verksamheten att utföras klimatskyddat året om. Den ritade byggnaden strävar efter att möjliggöra ett fungerande varv med maximal kapacitet. Därför har de maskiner industrin använder sig av integrerats i byggnaden och tillåtits påverka byggnadens utformning. Byggnaden består av en platå i betong ovanpå vilken mindre fartyg kan placeras genom användandet av varvets lyftkran som löper på räls längs med platån. Betongplatån bärs upp av tre stycken pelarrader och i den östra av de två korridorer som dessa skapar är en fristående byggnad med verkstäder placerad. Den västra av de två korridorerna förblir utomhus men utgör en regnskyddad väg från verkstäderna till skrovhallen och förrådet som är placerade intill betongplatån. / The task for this project was to design a building for the shipyard industry located on the western part of the island Beckholmen in Stockholm. The Industry repairs the medium to large size ships frequenting Stockholm’s Archipelago, and the building is meant to enable this industry to be carried out indoors and throughout the year.The aim of the designed building was to enable a functioning shipyard industry and optimize its capacity. The building consists of a concrete platform upon which the smaller ships can be placed by the use of the crane situated next to the platform. Three colonnades, that together create two corridors between them, carry the platform. In the one corridor to the east a freestanding building containing the workshops is placed. The one to the left creates a passage, protected from rain, from the workshops to the storage and the large hall housing the ship.
