When we started this study we quickly saw that almost all the previous research that we find was focused and concentrated on the fact that the employees should be motivated. The research also presents a top-down perspective which means from the head to the employee. A Swedish newspaper wrote in an article that 1/3 of all Swedish heads can’t motivate their employers. A Swedish internet platform discusses this and says that heads need to be motivated to be able to motivate people around himself. So with this report we want to turn and reverse the perspective and pay focus on management and leadership. What makes a manager and leader justified and what is it that makes him or her strive to get in the position he or she has and what part has the employees in the heads motivation. The purpose with this study is to find out how important it is with a motivated head and what factors that really motivate himself, we also want to find out how the employees help with the motivation to his head. The theory’s we have used under this study is a couple of motivations theories from Abraham Maslow and Frederick Herzberg. We have also theories about what motivation is and describes intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation. Another theory in this assignment is the communication between the head and the employees, in other words feedback. This study has used a qualitative research method with the direction to the hermeneutics researcher’s way. We have also used a deductive way, in other words we have looked in to the theory first to get a deeper understanding and find out what we really want to study. We have used interviews to collect information for this study. Five organizations have been interviewed and from every organization one head and one employer has been interviewed. Why we did this is because we wanted to get two perspective from the organizations. With this study we have concluded that feedback is a very important source to build up and strength the persons own motivation. We have also concluded that open minded and continual feedback promotes motivation, both with the head and the employees. The employees also help a lot with motivating his head and have a great understanding for his head’s needs.
