Em relação às bases metodológicas da investigação, a proposta do presente estudo foi esboçada em dois níveis operacionais, variando em maior ou menor grau as operações de identificação, caracterização, classificação e análise, considerando-se apresentar dentro de uma perspectiva histórica e geográfica a formação sócio-espacial de Tubarão. Para tal seguiram-se os pressupostos de duas matrizes teóricas: a categoria de Formação Sócio-Espacial (SANTOS, 1977) e a análise econômica brasileira relacionada aos Ciclos Econômicos exposta na obra de Ignácio Rangel, que verifica os períodos de crescimento e crise do modo de produção capitalista. Tubarão, considerado polo regional, sofre as conseqüências diretas da implantação do Programa Nacional de Desestatização adotado pelo governo federal a partir de 1990 com impactos negativos sobre o conjunto da atividade produtiva. A diversificação na matriz produtiva não se repetiu aqui como em outros municípios da região carbonífera, reflexos da fraca divisão do trabalho existente, limitando-se ao comércio e prestação de serviços. Todos os dados foram, sistematicamente, pensados a partir do rigor metódico exigido pela especificidade de cada um deles. Este trabalho baseia-se, fundamentalmente, na análise distintiva entre as formas abstrata e a forma concreta de pensar os problemas. / The main goal of this research is to analyze the social-spacial formation in Tubarão, SC, from the combinations and contradictions of the society in a space, in other words, the dynamics of the economic functions arising from the many types of combinations that manifested over the local and regional space. Regarding the methodological basis of the investigation, the proposal of this study was outlined in two operational levels, ranging in greater or minor degree the operations of identification, characterization e analysis, considering presenting within a historical and geographical perspective the social-spacial formation of Tubarão. In order to do it, the assumptions of two theoretical arrays were followed: the category of Social Spacial Formation (SANTOS, 1977) and the Brazilian economical analysis' related to the economic cycles presented in the work of Ignácio Rangel, which verifies the periods of growth and crisis of the capitalistic production model. Tubarão, considered regional center, suffers the direct consequences of the National Program of Privatization adopted by the federal government from 1990 with negative impacts over the group of productive activity. The diversification in the productive matrix does not repeat itself like in other cities of the coal region, reflexes of the existing weak labor division, limiting itself to commerce and services. All data was, systematically, thought from the methodical strictness demanded by the specificity of each of them. This work is based, fundamentally, in the distinctive analysis between the abstract and concrete forms of thinking over problems.
