inherent to the so-called modern human being. There is a growing demand to create
categories and seek to fit into some of them, especially in a multicultural society such
as ours. This dissertation proposes to build a starting point for the systematization of
information about the Archaeological Sites from the state of Rio Grande do Sul.
Through a diagnosis made in PHAN-RS?s database, it was possible to carry out
comparative studies and overlap information in order to visualize the state map from
different perspectives. Archaeological sites are not just colorful dots on a map. They
are cultural systems that extrapolate the basic understanding which would sum up its
complexity. The construction of maps considering the Archaeological Traditions and
relating this information with data such as responsible researcher and year of the
research provides a way to see the dispersion of these Archaeological Sites in a unique
way. The main purpose of this research would be, therefore, to carry out a diagnosis
that would enable the identification of the information related to the accuracy of the
location of the archaeological sites registered in the IPHAN-RS database. In this work,
we try to explore possibilities of using several information and to relate them, always
in the pursuit of expanding the archaeological knowledge. / A necessidade de criar padr?es e de organizar informa??es sistematicamente ? inerente ao ser humano dito moderno. Existe uma demanda crescente de criar categorias e buscar se enquadrar em alguma delas, sobretudo em uma sociedade pluricultural como a nossa. Esta disserta??o se prop?e a construir um ponto de partida para sistematiza??o de informa??es referentes aos S?tios Arqueol?gicos do Rio Grande do Sul. Atrav?s de um diagn?stico realizado no banco de dados do IPHANRS, pretende-se realizar estudos comparativos e sobrepor informa??es de maneira a visualizar o mapa do Estado sob diversas perspectivas. S?tios arqueol?gicos n?o s?o apenas pontos coloridos em um mapa. S?o sistemas culturais que extrapolam a compreens?o b?sica que resumiria em poucas linhas sua complexidade. A constru??o de mapas considerando as Tradi??es Arqueol?gicas e relacionando essas informa??es com dados como pesquisador respons?vel e ano de realiza??o da pesquisa proporciona um modo de enxergar a dispers?o desses S?tios Arqueol?gicos de maneira ?nica. A principal finalidade desta pesquisa seria, ent?o, executar um diagn?stico que possibilitasse a identifica??o das informa??es relativas ? precis?o da localiza??o dos s?tios arqueol?gicos registrados no banco de dados do IPHAN-RS. Neste trabalho procura-se explorar possibilidades de usos de informa??es diversas e relacion?-las, sempre na busca de expandir o saber arqueol?gico.
