Previous issue date: 2014-07-31 / This study aims to describe and understand the institutional environment and networks influence the internationalization of scientific journals. The assumption defended in this dissertation is that a magazine which has strong presence in the network in conjunction with a high perception of pressure from the institutional environment is more prone to internationalize magazine. The theoretical foundation is grounded in network theory, and institutionalism. Through a qualitative research methodology, pick up will understand what is the insertion of the magazine on the network and what is the understanding that the publisher has on the institutional environment and how this understanding leads to the internationalization process. It is perceived as a result of the low set in the context of networks, except those magazines that has already started its internationalization process, regarding institutional environment, it was noted how high the perception of publishers, regardless of the stage of internationalization of the journal. / Este estudo tem como objetivo geral entender como o ambiente institucional e as redes influenciam a internacionalização dos periódicos científicos. O pressuposto defendido nessa dissertação é que uma revista que tem forte inserção na rede em conjunto com uma alta percepção de pressão do ambiente institucional é uma revista mais propensa a se internacionalizar. A fundamentação teórica está embasada na teoria de redes, e no institucionalismo. Por meio de uma metodologia de pesquisa qualitativa, buscou-se entender qual é a inserção da revista na rede e qual é a compreensão que o editor tem em relação ao ambiente institucional e como esse entendimento conduz ao processo de internacionalização. Percebe-se como resultado a baixa inserção no contexto de redes, salvo aquelas revistas que já tenham iniciado seu processo de internacionalização, em relação ambiente institucional, observou-se como alta a percepção dos editores, independente do estágio de internacionalização da revista.
