Previous issue date: 2013-03-05 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES / This research aims to investigate the behavior of the terms e, aí, mas, assim and então used by individuals with different levels of instruction, from the theoretical perspective of functionalist linguistics, specifically from the grammaticalization. Such perspective taken considers language as dynamic, in which the grammar (seen as emergent) is constituted in real use situation, on which is perceived the apparently chaotic regularities. The selection of these terms is justified by the fact that they undergo the process of grammaticalization or discoursivization and they were the most identified ones in this research corpus. It consists of eight interviews (one of them with the teacher and the other ones with their students who live in rural areas and they are enrolled in Youth and Adult Education classes EJA). This work is organized into four parts: introduction, theoretical background, data presentation and analysis, and conclusion. The contributions of Neves (1997), Castillo (2010), Silva (2005), Tavares (2003), Martelotta (1996), among others from the functionalist perspective were used to support this research. Regarding the data presentation and analysis, the quantitative and qualitative elements are demonstrated with the use of graphs, tables and diagrams as well as excerpts from interviews with explanation of how it happened, so the items in questions and the grammaticalization process stages experienced by them can be better understood. / Esta pesquisa se propõe a investigar o comportamento dos termos e, aí, mas, assim e então utilizados por indivíduos de distintos níveis de instrução, sob a perspectiva teórica da linguística funcionalista, mais especificamente da gramaticalização. Tal perspectiva adotada neste intento considera a língua como algo dinâmico, em que a gramática (encarada como emergente) é constituída em situações reais de uso, percebendo-se as regularidades aparentemente caóticas. A seleção dos termos é justificada pelo fato de sofrerem o processo de gramaticalização ou discursivização e serem os mais identificados no nosso corpus que, por sua vez, é composto por oito entrevistas (uma com a professora e as demais com seus alunos habitantes de zona rural e matriculados em turmas da Educação de Jovens e Adultos EJA). Este trabalho está organizado em quatro partes: introdução; panorama teórico; apresentação e análise de dados; e conclusão. Para fundamentar nossa pesquisa, nos apropriamos das contribuições de Neves (1997), Castilho (2010), Silva (2005), Tavares (2003), Martelotta (1996), dentre outros que compartilham da ótica funcionalista. Quanto à apresentação e à análise de dados, demonstraremos elementos quantitativos e qualitativos, com a utilização de gráficos, tabelas e esquemas, bem como trechos das entrevistas com a devida explicação do evento ocorrido a fim de que se tenha uma melhor compreensão acerca dos itens em questão e dos estágios do processo de gramaticalização por eles experienciados.
