”Hur fan kan du göra så mot min tro? Du ska få stryk!” : En kvalitativ intervjustudie om konflikt och konflikthantering i religionskunskapsklassrummet från elevernas perspektiv / "How the hell can you do that against my beliefs? I am gonna beat you up!" : A qualitative interview study on conflict and conflict management within the religious studies classroom from the perspective of the students.

This study explores how pupils within the religious education classroom experience conflicts as well as methods of managing them. By conducting qualitative interviews with eight different recipients from two municipalities, data has been collected that implies that religious education lessons are prone to conflict. During the interviews, several areas were identified as being sensitive and susceptible to conflicts. Areas such as insensitivity towards religion on the part of both pupils and teachers, secularized worldviews, ethnographical issues, and Islam are all among those sensitive categories. The essay also explores methods on how to manage these areas. Among these, good communication, paying attention to the conflict as well as teaching religious studies with a broad perspective are advocated by both academics and pupils alike. I am hopeful that the reader will get a greater understanding of how pupils react and think during religious education lessons while also avoiding the minefield of conflicts that exist. This should be especially interesting for those who aim to teach religious education in Swedish schools.
