Previous issue date: 2012-09-28 / This present research aims to understand the concept of homosexuality as a social
creation that comes permeated by the discourses of sexuality devices. It discusses the issue of
homosexuality with a focus on works of Michel Foucault, in special The History of
Sexuality, where the author emphasizes that homosexuality as a social construct that
manifests itself during the nineteenth century. From the Foucauldian discourse, it is
proposed to understand and analyze the creation of the concept of homosexuality, which
is built around the subordination of the individual as a social agent, or the creation of
homosexuality does not refer to sexual intercourse between individuals of the same sex,
but a social subject and the position it takes in society. So along with the birth of
the homosexual individual, there is also the construction of the individual as a social
subject, as being, homosexuality and homosexual subject are products of overlapping powerculture.
When addressing this theme, it breaks the hegemony that seeks to
characterize naturalized of sexuality and, consequently, homosexuality, born with the
original speeches on medical and psychiatric couches, in which one perceives the role of
power in the discourses deploying the truths aimed at sexuality. With this, there has been
an argument that seeks to refute the eugenics that includes sexuality as something natural,
instituting a homosexual as a guy born hostage to a bad genetic and abnormal who should
be treated for their disease, and understand this individual as a product of social discourse / A presente pesquisa tem como objetivo compreender a conceitua??o da homossexualidade
enquanto uma cria??o social, que prov?m dos discursos permeados pelos dispositivos da
sexualidade. Discute o tema da homossexualidade, com foco nas obras de Michel Foucault,
destacando-se sua obra A Hist?ria da Sexualidade, em que o autor enfatiza a
homossexualidade como uma constru??o social que se manifesta no decorrer do s?culo XIX.
A partir dos discursos foucaultianos, prop?em-se a compreens?o e a an?lise da cria??o do
conceito homossexualidade, constru??o que se volta a uma subordina??o do sujeito enquanto
agente social, ou seja, a cria??o da homossexualidade n?o se remete ? pr?tica sexual entre
indiv?duos do mesmo sexo, e sim a um sujeito social e ? posi??o que toma perante a
sociedade. Portanto, juntamente com o nascimento do indiv?duo homossexual, tem-se
igualmente a constru??o do indiv?duo como sujeito social, ou seja, a homossexualidade e o
sujeito homossexual s?o produtos da imbrica??o poder-cultura. Ao se abordar essa tem?tica,
quebra-se a hegemonia que visa ? caracteriza??o naturalizada da sexualidade e,
consequentemente, da homossexualidade, que nasce com os discursos originados em cl?nicas
m?dicas e div?s psiqui?tricos, nos quais se percebe a atua??o do poder nos discursos que
implantam as verdades voltadas ? sexualidade. Com isso, elabora-se uma discuss?o que
busca refutar a eugenia que compreende a sexualidade como algo natural, instituindo o
homossexual como um sujeito que nasceu ref?m de uma gen?tica ruim , um ser anormal que
dever? ser tratado de sua patologia, e compreender esse indiv?duo como um produto do
discurso social
