Abstract Title: The significance of Human Capital for venture capitalists in the investment process. Subject: Candidate thesis, 15 hp. Authors: Joel Mogensen and David Jacobsson. Keywords: Venture capitalist, human capital and investment process. The main issue: To what significance is the human capital to venture capitalists in the investment process? Purpose: The main purpose of this essay is to describe and create understanding about the significance of human capital to venture capitalist in the investment process. Furthermore, the purpose is to develop a conceptual framework which explains venture capitalist investment process and the human capitals meaning. Theory: Theories about venture capitalist and their investment process, human capital and what it comprises has been used. Furthermore, theories regarding relations and other circumstance which may influence the venture capitalist have been been of great value to our essay. Method: A deductive approach has been used together with a qualitative design. We have completed a qualitative study in which the empirical material has been accumulated from interviews with nice venture capitalist. The collected theories, which have been used as the foundation of this paper, are scientific reviewed. Conclusion: Human capital is the most significant investment criteria for venture capitalists in the investment process. Syfte: Syftet med arbetet är att beskriva och skapa förståelse kring humankapitalets betydelse för riskkapitalister i investeringsprocessen. Vidare är syftet att utveckla ett konceptuellt ramverk vilket förklarar riskkapitalisters investeringsprocess och humankapitalets betydelse för den. Teori: Teorier om riskkapitalister och deras investeringsprocess, humankapitalet och vad det innefattar har använts. Vidare har teorier om relationer och faktorer som påverkar riskkapitalisten varit aktuella. Metod: En deduktiv ansats har använts i samband med en kvalitativ design. Vi har genomfört en kvalitativ studie där nio riskkapitalister har intervjuats för att utgöra rapportens empiriska material. Insamlad teori är vetenskapligt granskade och har legat till grund för genomförandet av studien. Slutsats: Humankapitalet är det mest betydelsefulla investeringskriteriet för riskkapitalister i investeringsprocessen. Vidare kan humankapitalet ha betydelse i ett tidigt skede likväl som i ett senare skede i investeringsprocessen.
