Previous issue date: 2006 / Resumo: Este trabalho aborda a especificidade da crise do Antigo Regime português no Rio Grande de São Pedro, província onde a interação entre guerra e fiscalidade envolveu mudanças nos padrões de relacionamento entre os estancieiros e o Estado, evidenciando a constituição de alianças e conflitos, continuidades e rupturas. Busca-se demonstrar que a transferência da Corte para o Brasil permitiu a ampliação dos laços entre a elite da capitania em torno da extração de recursos e da expansão do território, movimento que sofreu inflexão com a Guerra Cisplatina (1825-1828), quando na interação entre guerra e fiscalidade passa a predominar o aspecto conflitivo / Abstract: The present thesis accosts the specificity of the crisis of the Ancient Portuguese Regime in Rio Grande de São Pedro, province where the interaction between war and Tax-system involved changes in the relationship standards between cattle breeding oligarchy and the State, enhancing the constitution of alliances and conflicts, continuities and ruptures between 1808 and 1831. It¿s objective is to demonstrate that the transference of the Court to Brazil allowed a stronger bonding of the crown colony¿s elite with resource extracting and territorial expansion, such movement having suffered an inflexion with the War of Cisplatina (1825-1828), when, in the interaction between war and fiscal policies, the conflictive aspect begun to predominate / Doutorado / Historia Economica / Doutor em Ciências Econômicas
