Previous issue date: 2015-01-27 / Coordena??o de Aperfei?oamento de Pessoal de N?vel Superior - CAPES / This study aims at learning the configurations regarding the situation of elderly in prison by considering as research setting the Central Prison of Porto Alegre/RS. It is a qualitative research about the phenomenon studied from a triangle approach of different theoretical lines and distinct techniques of social research. The epistemological construction of the theoretical study about this issue is consubstantiated in the bibliographic review and documental research. Besides it is founded in the referrals of the historic and dialectic materialism, of the critical criminology and of the social gerontology. This work counted on the collaborative participation, by free and spontaneous will, of ten prisoned elderly over sixty years old. The elderly reported their experience in the prison upon interviews of oral thematic history which was the main technique utilized in the collection process that gathered stories and not data. The instrument that made their application viable was the script of thematic oral history, organized within thematic axes with the objective of constructing an ontological apprehension of the reality. The technique of participative observation with the resource of the field diary allowed the registration of notes about the day-to-day life and the research development that contributed in a significant way for the analysis of the interconnections and the multiple determinants involved in the elderly imprisonment. The research provided more visibility to the social experiences of elderly in prison by means of stories that are presented partially and analyzed from their intercession points. Thus, the present study aims at contributing for the qualification of criminal and penitentiary public policies that pay attention to the violation of human rights of imprisoned elderly. In addition, it unveils the penalty overcharges experienced by the elderly in the penal institution, the crystallization of their specificities, their needs that disappeared under the prison dynamics and the main difficulties they face in this situation. / Este trabalho procura conhecer as configura??es da situa??o de encarceramento de idosos, tendo como cen?rio de pesquisa o Pres?dio Central de Porto Alegre/RS. Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa que aborda o fen?meno estudado, a partir da triangula??o de diferentes correntes te?ricas e de distintas t?cnicas de pesquisa social. A constru??o epistemol?gica do estudo te?rico sobre o tema consubstanciada na revis?o bibliogr?fica e na pesquisa documental fundamenta-se nos referenciais do materialismo hist?rico e dial?tico, da criminologia cr?tica e da gerontologia social. Participaram como colaboradores do trabalho por livre e espont?nea vontade dez idosos presos com mais de sessenta anos de idade. O experi?nciado dos idosos com o c?rcere foi narrado por eles em entrevistas de hist?ria oral tem?tica. A hist?ria oral tem?tica foi a principal t?cnica de coleta utilizada resultando dela hist?rias e n?o dados.O instrumento que viabilizou sua aplica??o foi o roteiro de hist?ria oral tem?tica organizado por eixos tem?ticos que visaram a constru??o de uma apreens?o ontol?gica da realidade.A t?cnica de observa??o participante com recurso ao di?rio de campo permitiu o registro de notas sobre o cotidiano e o desenvolvimento da pesquisa contribuindo significativamente para a an?lise das interconex?es e dos m?ltiplos determinantes envolvidos no encarceramento de idosos. A pesquisa permite maior visibilidade ?s experi?ncias sociais de c?rcere dos idosos, por meio de hist?rias que s?o apresentadas parcialmente e analisadas a partir de seus pontos de intercess?o. Nesse sentido, o presente estudo que visa contribuir para a qualifica??o de pol?ticas p?blicas criminais e penitenci?rias que atentem ?s viola??es de direitos humanos dos idosos encarcerados aponta para as sobrecargas punitivas experi?ncia das pelos idosos no c?rcere, para a cristaliza??o das suas especificidades, para as suas necessidades subsumidas nas din?micas prisionais e as principais dificuldades enfrentadas por eles nessa situa??o.
