Bachelor Thesis Business Administration III, Organization 15 hp, 2FE78E, School of Economics at Linnaeus University of Kalmar, Spring 2024. Authors: Emelie Syse & Zozan Tercan Delic Advisor: Anna Larsson Examinator: Mikael Lundgren Title: Digitize at your own risk Purpose: The purpose of the study is to examine employees' experiences of digitalization and how changes related to digitalization affect the employees. Method: The study is a qualitative cross-sectional study with an inductive research approach. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews with seven employees in a manufacturing industry in Kalmar County. The employees work or have worked in roles affected by changes due to digitalization. Conclusion: The study has shown that digitalization in the manufacturing industry improves work processes and the working environment. It can increase employee motivation and satisfaction. At the same time, digitalization brings challenges that require systematic training and adaptation. The conclusions also indicate that digitalization has become an individual task rather than an organizational task. To fully benefit from Industry 4.0, companies should therefore invest in both new technology and extensive employee training. Key words: Digitalization, efficiency, communication, work environment, education, Industry 4.0, business economics.
