Previous issue date: 2013 / Esta tese compreende uma análise do desenvolvimento socioeconômico de Joinville/SC e da ocupação de áreas de manguezais, especialmente as do bairro Boa Vista, feita em base a pesquisa de campo, por meio de entrevista participante, depoimentos, estudo de imagens, dados estatísticos e literatura pertinente. Assinala-se uma estreita relação desse processo com fatores histórico-geográficos atrelados a vários fatores como: cultura dos imigrantes europeus, investimento público em infraestrutura, extrativismo e beneficiamento da madeira e da erva mate, política nacional de substituição de importações, transferência da Fundição Tupy da região central para áreas de manguezais situadas na região leste da cidade, diversificação da atividade produtiva em setores têxtil, metalmecânico, plástico e tecnologia da informação, êxodo rural, forte urbanização nacional, movimento migratório e segregação socioespacial associada à formação de um exército de reserva de mão de obra. A análise infere que a busca do crescimento econômico capitalista, pautado na concorrência, no lucro, na acumulação do capital, influencia na desarticulação do homem do ambiente da natureza e da sociedade. Nesse contexto, também se assinala que o baixo poder aquisitivo da classe trabalhadora e a falta de uma política habitacional refletem-se na expansão urbana horizontal sobre essas áreas de manguezais, e que a realização de infraestrutura sobre dessas áreas, igualmente, proporcionou a melhoria das condições de moradia e sua integração à malha urbana. Por fim, alerta-se que esse fenômeno ainda continua em curso em Joinville e que poderá se agravar nos municípios circunvizinhos que apresentam expressivo crescimento econômico-demográfico, como é o caso do município de Araquari. <br> / This thesis involves an analysis of the socioeconomic development of Joinville / SC and occupation of mangrove areas, especially those of Boa Vista neighborhood, made through field research by interviewing participant testimonials, imaging studies, statistical data and literature. It is noted a close relationship of this process with historical and geographical factors linked to several factors such as: culture of European immigrants, public investment in infrastructure, extraction and processing of wood and yerba mate, the national policy of import substitution, the Tupy Foundry transfering from the central area to mangrove areas located in the eastern region of the city, diversification of production in the textile, metalworking, plastics, information technology, rural exodus, strong national urbanization, migration movement and spatial segregation associated with the formation of an army reserve of manpower. The analysis infers that the pursuit of capitalist economic growth, based on competition, profit, capital accumulation, influences the dislocation of man's environment and the nature of society. In this context, it also notes that the low purchasing power of the working class and the lack of a housing policy reflected in the horizontal urban expansion on these mangrove areas, however, the realization of infrastructure on these areas also provided improved housing conditions and its integration into the urban fabric. Finally, warning that this phenomenon is still ongoing in Joinville and may worsen in surrounding counties that have significant economic and population growth, as the case of Araquari.
