This thesis is a collaboration with Bahnhof AB, a Swedish broadband operator, that operates several data centers. The objective of the assignment is to finalize a fully designed visual representation in CAD of a furniture group, as well as developing and manufacturing documentation for Bahnhof AB. The furniture group is intended for Bahnhof AB’s new data center, Gullan, located in Kista. The project has included several phases: project planning to ensure an efficient product development process. Research, involving literature reviews, surveys, interviews and site visits, requirement specification to clarify common requirements and preferences from Bahnhof AB. A concept generation phase was conducted to develop various concepts, using methods like random word association, braindrawing, my creative idol and brainwriting 6-3-5. Furthermore, a concept selection was made involving elimination matrices and concept scoring to choose the most suitable concept. Finally, a concept development was carried out, using physical and digital prototypes to improve and refine the final concept. The final concept resulted in a support- and seating function accommodating two individuals, each with access to their respective seating function and part of the support function. The concept includes a shared storage shelf in the center of the support function, providing good storage opportunities. Space for power outlets has been incorporated into the design to accommodate user requests. Finally, construction drawings have been developed for Bahnhof AB, while accounting for theme, budget, psychosocial work environment, ergonomics and sustainability.
