Ett projekt om en byggnad som uppstått ur en idé om ett rum. Det rum som bildas i relationen mellan platsens branta topografi och den kub som utgör byggnadens form. Genom att kuben lyfts upp på pelare skapas på det nedre planet ett rum med sikt åt alla håll, men helt utan insyn. Det är ett offentligt rum, och på samma gång ett rum för Kulturskolans verksamheter. Kanske övar några här på dans, eller så används det som en föreläsningssal av en av de föreningar som brukar mötas här. Jag ville att det här skulle vara ett öppet rum. Lika öppet mot parken som mot de rum som gränsar till det. Men samtidigt ville jag att de olika rummen tydligt skulle definieras. Jag lät därför vrida föreställningssalens stora volym i mitten åtta grader, vilket skapade två öppna, men trots det definierade rum som båda riktar sig ut mot parken. Den här vridningen fick sedan konsekvenser i resten av byggnaden. / A project about a building that emerged from an idea of one single space. A space that exists in the relationship between the steep topography of the site and the cubic form of the building. It is a space from which you can see in all directions, but in which you’re free from all observations. It is a public space at the same time as it is a space used by the School of the Arts. A group might be there for dance practice, or it might be used as a lecture hall by an other organisation. I wanted it to be an open space. As open towards the park as towards the spaces adjacent to it. But at the same time I wanted it to be defined. By rotating the volume of the black box in the center of the cube two open, but yet defined, spaces were created. This rotation led to consequences for the rest of the building.
