AbstractThis paper examines how the church room is used in relation to the recommendations from the bishop's letter in 2011. Three perspectives will be used to see how the bishop's letter is applied in two churches in Uppsala, Sweden. The perspectives are (1) Accessibility: How accessible is the church room and how do you see it? (2) Publicity: How does it appear that church room is a public space? (3) Renewal: Does renewal have a prominent role in the church room? In my analysis of the church rooms Kim Knott´s spatial method is used, which looks at the physical, social dimension and mental dimension of a room. The results are applied to a theory consisting of four steps, which are (1) the spatial dynamics, (2) the rooms’ focus center, (3) the aesthetic influence and (4) the symbolic resonance.
